After an immensely successful summer of releases and parties in Ibiza and further afield, our future star, Doorly, releases the unforgettable ‘Rush’, featuring the vocals of Soraya Vivian. Included in the release are remixes by tech house talent Groovebox, London house duo Tough Love and Toolroom’s very own Pete Griffiths, as well as a rework that sees Doorly join forces with regular production partner Rory Lyons.

Already a Toolroom favourite, Doorly’s original mix of ‘Rush’ effortlessly intertwines classic house piano chords with Soraya Vivian’s yearning vocals to create this instant summer smash. First up on remix duties, Groovebox remains faithful to the original, whilst placing a heavier focus on the percussion for a tech house wonderment. Tough Love take their trademark sound to the track, resulting in a distinct and deep remix, further cementing the London duo as rising stars in the UK scene. Next up, Rory Lyons & Doorly’s remix is dark and techy, crafted with afterhours parties in mind. Finally, Pete Griffiths’ remix focuses in on the vocals, cleverly chopping them into an energetic and tough edge groove with the dance floor firmly in mind.

Already an accomplished producer, watch out for Doorly as he climbs higher and higher through the ranks of the elite with ‘Rush’.

Burgeoning DJ and producer Bontan makes his debut on the notorious Hot Creations label. Hotly anticipated, the release features two original cuts to fuel his rising profile.

UK based Bontan has been using title track The First Time as his secret weapon for the last six months and is now finally unleashing it. “I’ve been testing it and tweaking it play by play!’ he explains. ‘The vocal compliments the rolling bass melody and gives it a darker edge”. This a producer who fully understands how to create a track for a heaving dancefloor. Personal Question is the second cut and flips the mood entirely with a twisted vocal entwined in beeps and percussion, whilst stirring the sentiments of lost early hours.

A firm favourite in the underground scene, he has built a solid reputation with releases on Circus Recordings, 20/20 Vision, and Cajual among others.

Renowned for fostering a shared space between industry tastemakers and rising talent alike, the careful curation that goes into each volume is a fine example of why Beyer’s brand continues to go from strength to strength.

Techno titan Adam Beyer has grown Drumcode into a force to be reckoned with; the label has become synonymous with forward-thinking, functional techno and even after 20 years, Drumcode continues to find new boundaries to push, and ways to solidify its legacy as the world’s number one techno label. 

2017 is no exception, with Beyer’s imprint hosting it’s first stage at Tomorrowland, not to mention the expansion of the critically acclaimed Junction 2 where the Drumcode stage is the centrepiece and Adam plays the key role of festival director. The Drumcode phenomenon continues to grow each week, chiefly fuelled by Drumcode Radio, Adam’s radio show that’s broadcast in 57 countries via 86 stations and to a global audience of 16 million techno fans per week. 

The A-Sides series acts as a perfect vignette of Drumcode’s cutting-edge sound; functional yet inspired techno, all tracks tried and tested by Beyer himself. Vol. 6 continues this tradition with a collection of 16 multi-faceted cuts from a mixture of both emerging artists and experienced label friends. 

The heart-throbbing bass in Amelie Lens’ electrifying piece ‘In Silence’ sets the tone for the dark and dance-floor-ready energy that Vol.6 carries the whole way through. Other standouts include Mars Bill’s rough’n’ready ‘Mohave’. Pulsating and precise, ‘Mohave’ has highlighted many of Beyer’s sets recently as has Wehbba’s monster track ‘Fake’, which fans have been anticipating the release of all year. 

Label-favourites Dense & Pika also feature on ‘A-Sides’ Vol. 6 with their hard-hitting ‘Just a Beat’ and a huge track from Beyer himself who has joined forces with Enrico Sangiuliano to bring us their undeniably infectious ‘Preset Heaven’. 

With many more notable selections from the likes of Julian Jewell, Timmo, Tiger Stripes and Pig&Dan, A-Sides Vol. 6 is another impressive addition to the label’s prolific release roster and a testament to why Drumcode remains at the forefront of the electronic world.

Respected producer, singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Elderbrook has rounded off the summer with his biggest body of original work to date; the 7 track ‘Talking’ EP.  

The deluxe EP is a culmination of the many styles that have influenced Alexander Kotz over the course of his career. Moving through various moods and subgenres, it still contains his inimitable vocals and overarching sense of feeling that have come to characterise the Elderbrook sound. 

The first single to come from the full-length production, ‘Woman’, was separately released on the 28th July. The laid back pace is matched with pitched-down chopped vocals, contrasting with the wistful lyrics. It’s produced by Craven J, but exemplifies Kotz’s unique approach to being a singer and a producer; “phonetics are as important as lyrics. My voice adds another percussive element to the sounds.”

‘Good Times’ followed 'Woman' on the 30th of August ahead of the full EP release. A collaboration with multi-platinum selling British producer and songwriter Starsmith, it’s one of the more feelgood moments of the EP thanks to the upbeat keys and catchy vocal chorus. Likewise, title track ‘Talking’’s descending chords and gentle bassline is a summery piece of indie-electronica, whilst the chunky house stabs in ‘Let Go’, with Nicky Nighttime of NAATIONS on the production, make it one of the most dancefloor-orientated tracks out of the release.

In contrast, ‘Put Down’’s breakdown hints at Elderbrook’s roots creating hiphop and trap, as does the fuzzy bassline and juddering bass riffs of ‘IOU’. The EP closes off with the aptly titled ‘Feels Like A Sunday’, a laid back ode to the weekend showcasing Kotz’s vocal layering skills.

Packed full of material that will please both existing Elderbrook fans and convert the uninitiated, each track on the EP feels strong enough to be a standalone single in its own right. Despite the diversity of styles on show, the EP also works as a body of work overall thanks to the distinctive, ever evolving ‘Elderbrook sound’ that ties each track together. ‘Talking’ cements Kotz’ status as one of the most innovative, undeniably multitalented young producers on the rise right now.

Techno mastermind Ben Klock marks the 20th release on his Klockworks imprint with a compilation that represents the labels past and future, including a new track by Klock himself fittingly titled 'Twenty'.

Also found on the 'Klockworks 20' compilation are tracks by DVS1, Trevino, Sterac, Dax J, Etapp Kyle and much more. 

'Klockworks 20' is set for release September 25.

Former cover stars Tale Of Us have been busy since they graced the front of the January 2016 issue. The Italian purveyors of brooding, sweeping techno have been making waves with their Afterlife parties around the world and record label of the same name.

Their next offering is a remix EP and features wild new imaginings ​of 'Monument', the track they made with Vaal featuring on vocals. Both Stephan Bodzin and Barnt have remixed the track and we've got the exclusive first play of the latter's edit.

Better Listen Records has brought the fire since its inaugural release last year. A DC based house label that gives nods to disco and funk. The music feels familiar but also feels like the future. Here at Bolting Bits we are no strangers to a Better Listen Premiere, today's track comes from the king of soul and funk laden house, thatmanmonkz. Everyone with an interest in house music should know a thatmanmonkz track, he has released on some of the most important labels around such as Delusions Of Grandeur, Classic, Dirt Crew and his own much celebrated Shadeleaf. Putting together an album is no mean feat but to bring the vibes like he did on Colombusing is testament to what the Sheffield born and bred producer has in his locker. This EP was inspired by a mini tour in the US and more specifically, as the name suggests, Washington DC.

The A1 track is called Sweetiez Fresh. Just over five minutes of fresh guitar flicks, syncopated kicks, finger lickin good bass lines and the horniest horns! It all kicks off with filtered percs and aforementioned guitar with thatmanmonkz' signature background vibe noise. It doesn't take long to get into the swing of things, chord changes perfect for the summer solstice. A chugger anthem for your beach soundtrack and beyond.

The monkz and Better Listen connection is strong and on the face of this release, we hope it continues.
