Am Deck 11 - The Cheapers

Words can't describe yet another sunrise of epic proportions this time at the C.A.M.P. (Calling all Magical People) co-created gathering. Right at the beginning of my DJ set at 4:30 am on July 4th (US Independence Day) the cops showed up to try to shut the party down due to noise complaints.

I had the difficult task of keeping the decibel levels under a certain threshold, so I had to nurture a huge dance floor for the closing set of the festival until 7am somewhat quietly until we were able to ramp up the volume to proper dance floor levels.

I am not sure if it was that we all wanted this so badly, or the majestic rays of sunshine coming down upon us, all I know is that 17 encore songs & tracks after the supposedly closing "Lovely Day" song, we kept raving and raging until we almost dropped.

One of the most memorable mornings in my 21 years of DJ'ing. Here's the recording of the full 4.5 hrs of the closing sunrise DJ set. I hope it takes you all back and for those of you who weren't there I hope it brings you the sunrise  joy and magic we collectively had.

Back in 2018, we came to Burning Man for the first time and we were instantly captivated by the endless and wild impressions of the desert, the art, the music, and above all: the people. It was the same year that, due to a lucky coincidence, we were invited to play a late-night set at Mayan Warrior. Within moments, we fell in love with the art-car and all the people surrounding it. We had a kind of musical epiphany there. So when we were formally invited to come back this year, playing a Thursday sunset concert, we didn't even have to think for a second. We were all hyped like crazy while at the same time feeling very humble about it. Visiting and playing at Burning Man, especially at this esteemed art-car, is something that really stood out in our lives so far. We will cherish this memory forever. It was the second time we played our hybrid live-set, but definitely not the last.

Bedouin - BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix 2020

Mayan Warrior is the result of a collaborative project that has united artists, craftsmen, photographers, designers, technologists, architects and musicians from Mexico City and Northern California. 

The project’s original intent was to present to the world the incredible ascent of contemporary Mexican electronic music while paying respect to the deep and ancient sources from which that visual and auditory culture had grown.


Both light and sound are curated by some of the world’s most prominent artists to transport participants to the very origins of the culture – and to a new understanding of contemporary electronic expression.

AND YES: Mayan Warrior is driven from Mexico City to the playa – and back – each year. It's a labor of love and we're glad so many people enjoy it.
