I wrote tiptoe from the perspective of anxiety itself; the lyrics imagine a surreal place where the listener finds themselves playing a high-stakes game of hide and seek with the personification of all their fears and anxieties.

I wrote "How Much Sadness Can You Swallow?" in response to a particularly disturbing nightmare I had of “a vision of hell” 8 years ago. After sitting with it for so long it’s taken on new meanings for me as I’ve gotten older; loss, self-blame, grief, new beginnings, self-love and power. I hope it does the same for you.

Blending left-field productions choices with lyrical storytelling, "Better Luck Next Time" is written from the perspective of a young man who has prioritised his career above everything else, so much so, he’s still trying to get a report out while his plane is going down. It's a disturbing analogy for humankind’s self-destructive behaviour and its consequences for the world's future set to the backdrop of buoyant, playful pop.

After the success of Maya Yenn’s sophomore single, the alt-pop artist has released a glistening trance house remix of “How Much Sadness Can You Swallow?” from London-based electronic artist and producer, Jasno.

Building on the original version of “How Much Sadness Can You Swallow?” – a hard-hitting, electro-pop track about a particularly intense nightmare Yenn had that she describes as “a vision of hell” – Jasno picks up the mantle with a thumping trance house take, getting delightfully weird with glistening synths and huge, groaning bass.

To close Rosie's Tee's Remix EP, 'RE // EMBRACE', Rosie invited UK independent producer, singer, and songwriter Maya Yenn to remix her track ‘Emerald’. Having played together in bands as teenagers, Maya and Rosie have always been musically in sync. Inspired by the upbeat productions of Glass Animals and Jungle, Maya shifts the expansive, jazz-tinged sentiments of ‘Emerald’ into realms of tight tropical, summer-fuelled beats. 

“Working on this remix was honestly some of the most fun I've had in the studio for a long time. I worked on it pretty exclusively for two days straight playing around with Rosie's airy vocals and different sounds and textures. Rosie's sound is so rich and atmospheric, I wanted to keep that richness for the remix but exchanged that luxurious expansiveness for something very energetic and tight for a different feel.“ – Maya Yenn

Avant-pop wunderkind Rosie Tee, a composer/performer from Birmingham UK, announces a new collaborative Remix EP aptly entitled ‘RE // EMBRACE’. It features five vastly contrasting reworks of songs from her 2021 EP ‘Earth, Embrace Me In’ by Vanishing Twin, Wildforms, NikNak, Matters & Maya Yenn.

Emerald - Rosie Tee (Maya Yenn Remix)

Following Jimmy Harvey’s release earlier this year, the pop artist is back with a bubblegum pop remix of “Call Me Back (When You’re Sober)” from alt-pop artist and producer, Maya Yenn.

The original song, written by Harvey and the song’s producer, Michelangelo Dousis, is a buoyant pop number that speaks to an ex who frequently calls drunk to say they want to get back together, only to go radio silent the next morning.

Maya Yenn, who has previously remixed Rosie Tee’s “Emerald” transforming the nu-jazz track into an eclectic, tropical pop remix, adds her trademark emotional warmth to Harvey’s ode to navigating modern romance, creating a vibrant yet delicate remix full of airy synths, playful basslines and phone bleeps and bloops.

“Jimmy tells such relatable stories with his lyrics, he really bares his soul! I felt really drawn to that vulnerability in the original song and wanted to play on it even more in the remix.” Yenn explained.

When speaking about the production choices in the remix, Yenn added, “I really wanted to hear Jimmy’s vocal as if he was actually talking to someone on the phone, literally telling them to ‘call him back’ and I knew I wanted to do something with actual phone sounds too. I love using sound this way, I think it really helps set the scene for the listener.”

Refreshing as a tall, ice-cold glass of lemonade and just as bitter, “Sour Grapes” is a characterful take on the frustrations and disappointments of adulthood; full of nostalgic warmth, video game bleeps and bloops and R&B-tinged beats, it's the perfect cocktail of freshly-squeezed pop for when adulthood just isn’t sweet enough.
