When we last crossed paths, the stoic producer and multi-instrumentalist Devin Kroes was on the heels of his Breathe EP, a cinematic and energetic three-track collection. Two years later, and he’s put the finishing touches on the fruit of an altogether more intensive labor; with The Rust Music serving as home base for his latest release, he’s pulling back the curtain on his arduous and expansive ten-track LP, There Is Growth Here.

Brimming with attitude and sharp tonality, There Is Growth Here maneuvers from end to end with clear compositional intention; each track is the launchpad for the subsequent song, easily blending the berth of styles housed under one umbrella. Eye of Newt

I wrote this song almost 2 years ago and sorta forgot about it, then recently remembered it, cleaned up the mixdown a lil bit (as best I could lol, there’s definitely some rough spots that were sorta unfixable. I lost the bulk of the project files and was left with only a beta .wav premaster version of it) and got it mastered

It sorta feels like the right time to release this one though. I think I wrote this one shortly after charlesthefirst passed away, and was probably somewhat inspired by that.

There’s the double-entendres again I guess of “aspiration” meaning “a hope or ambition of achieving something” as well as it being a medical terminology for “the action or process of drawing breath”

I think that in the ambition that many people feel in their day-to-day lives, whether it be in their careers, finding love, their hobbies etc can easily become overwhelming at times. It’s important to remember to step away and take a deep breath once in a while :)

Michigan based artist Mayple, aka Jaemes Chouinard, has quickly become a known name in the freeform bass community. His ability to create lush atmospheres while still delivering hard hitting basses and frequency bending subs is what elevates his project to the next level. He takes inspiration from a multitude of artists spanning genres of 140 and halftime to create his own style of bass.

For the last few years he has had releases with labels like Aspire Higher, Hemi.Wav, No Hype Music, and Make Wavs, and is quickly gaining support from numerous larger artists. He has played direct support for heavy-hitters Saturna, Artifakts, ATYYA, Thought Process, Potions and more, and has played festivals from Michigan to Colorado. With a handful of EP's, and numerous originals, flips, and bootlegs already released, it's safe to say that Mayple is the one to watch.
