CHRIS.SU makes a return to his own FATE RECORDINGS imprint with his WITHOUT YOU EP, a four track effort that sees him cover soaring melodics, hard edged sonics & deep rolling basslines with equal precision. As a 20 year veteran of the drum & bass scene CHRIS.SU is no stranger to such wide ranging sonic output, and such has been the focus of his FATE RECORDINGS imprint since its launch in 2013. The WITHOUT YOU EP marks CHRIS.SU’s first solo release since his Solar Eclipse EP released on 2016, and its clear that these tracks have been crafted with meticulous dedication to his diverse style.

WITHOUT YOU opens the EP alongside the lovelorn vocals of FEDORA which glide effortlessly over a driving beat, creating an experience of cathartic harmony as their sonant cries ring out at the track’s peak. TENSION carries with it a harsher attitude whilst still immersed in a sea of harmonic pads, the graceful undulations of which give way to the shifting movements of a fierce bassline that winds its way through the track’s sonic mileu. RAINDUST, the EP’s collaborative effort with NYMFO, tracks a course between the poles of the previous tracks. Herein, cascades of ephemeral vocals pervade the spaces between a deep rolling bassline as it moves through the track’s spacious sonic environment. The EP is then closed by the liquid mix of the titular WITHOUT YOU, amplifying the track’s emotive atmosphere atop the steady pulses of its refashioned bassline.

With the WITHOUT YOU EP, CHRIS.SU returns with a dynamic flourish of his musical ability, touching on multiple styles of drum and bass while crafting them to fit his signature sound. This March, Dutch drum and bass connoisseur Maztek returns to his very own label, 0101 Music, with the whopping 28-track compilation The Blacklist Rewind Catalogue.

Showcasing a mixture of releases from his formative years – dating all the way back to 2012 – and previously unheard VIPs, the new LP serves as a timely primer to the Haarlem DJ/producer’s extensive musical arsenal.

Included in the package are every single one of his past drops on revered label Renegade Hardware, including 2013’s M Theory EP, the critically acclaimed debut album Three Point Zero (2014) and a tag-team remix of “Limber” from late legend Optiv and Brazilian powerhouse BTK, all of which have proven to be fan favourites over the years. With some of these having previously been absent from streaming services and primarily available on vinyl, both die-hard followers and newcomers alike are in for a treat.

First landing exclusively via Maztek’s Bandcamp back in December, this essential collectors’ item has since been fortified with an additional three brand-new VIPs: a slinking reinterpretation of the choppy 2013 neurofunk triumph “iMaz”; a gritty, stuttering overhaul of the 2012 Subculture signing “Up & Down”; and a snarling spin on one of his best-known hits, “From the Shadows”, which features vocal contributions from local hip-hop heavyweights Dope D.O.D.

With Maztek known today not only as a musician but also as a label boss and preeminent purveyor of high-quality D&B, it’s a timely opportunity to reflect on his musical journey up to now. The Blacklist Rewind Catalogue LP lands 15th March via digital vendors and streaming services.

Spanish badman producing duo Dub Elements unleash upon the world their brand new sound in the form of Wobbledah EP, a resounding evolution on their already remarkable and unique sound that's been developing and changing over the course of an already long and illustrious career. 

Partnering up with Korsakov Music for their next releases, Dub Elements leave no prisoners with their 5 track opus on the label nominated for Best Newcomer Label at the DnB Arena awards this year. It seems the eclectic duo from Spain have gone full new wave UK style dnb and with utter conviction too! 

The title track couldn't have a more fitting name as it's cleverly and unique crafted wobbly synths slap you dead in the face, only for Korsa Shake to drag you down into the deepest part of Dub Elements' newly found sound. 

A track called Killing A Unicorn can't be soft but this one will not just slap you but also really surprise you on the drop, as will all the sudden heavy synths of arguably the most UK style track on the EP, Don't Ya Stand, a track sure to make crowds around the world scream out loud when dropped. 

Closing their debut Korsakov Music EP is Rave, a track that truly honours it's name by sounding like something you'd wanna hear in a dark, grim, sweaty venue in 1995. It's dark old school rave synths and heavy rolling drums will leave no dancefloor standing. With another EP already planned on the hyperambitious Dutch label it's only the beginning for Dub Elements' new found sound.

Sevillian producers Picota & Kumbh are about to make an appearance on Program for another release. Having spent the past five years slowly growing their arsenal of music they graduated onto the Program moniker through their single ‘Sacrifice / The Mummy’ and continue to be part of the label’s expansion with their forthcoming output.

The two fresh selections presented by Picota & Kumbh, ‘Déjà Vu’ and ‘Bass Flow’, provide another glimpse into their vast, complicated manufacturing. ‘Déjà Vu’ opens with an encompassing mesh of production, which leads into tidal like breaks, whilst ‘Bass Flow’ ebbs between its levels of throbbing bass alongside jazz-inspired instrumentals. So once again it’s time to get with the Program… One which leads the charge for artists breaking the norms of drum & bass production.
