The track is the exact type of future-led d&b that fits Lifestyle so perfectly, with rushy breaks leading into some epic- sounding synths and warped undertow. The main part of the track comes exploding out at you, complete with cataclysmic effects and some seriously fat bass. Ready to tear down any club, Futile is a seriously heavy track for
the end of the year.

Lockjaw emanates from Canberra, but his music transcends nationality and location. Deep, dark and resolutely original, Lockjaw is setting his sights high. The catchy, insistent opening to Big System is only the beginning, with tight kicks highlighting the engineering prowess which Lockjaw also brings to the table.
Things take a dark turning part way through, as the producer guides you through some dank underground tunnels which reek of beats, bass and bashy rhythms. Hard, punishing and uncompromising, this one is set to smash. Futile/Big System show what Lifestyle are all about, and what they are capable of. 'Rat Pack' immediately sets the vibe with satisfying plucked keys atop pattering drums and ominous atmosphere. Mindscape doesn't wait for listeners to get comfortable before unleashing two hulking bassline punches on the downbeat, setting the stage for the remainder of the tune. The intro draws to a close, and equally distorted bassline counterparts come into focus. 'Rat Pack' gets serious as aggressive drums converge with riotous vocal snippets to create a potently anarchic concoction. Melodic components descend downward, with a sense of hopelessness. A descent into madness, no doubt.

The title track plays leadoff on the EP, ticking into life before grinding out its gritty existence. Go straight into the heart of the machine, be lead straight into the Shadows. The quality and hard work which Conduct have put into this release is obvious from the get-go, with every sound obviously agonised over for months, but directed straight at your heart and your head. Eternally brings in strings, an effecting piano lead and some more contemplative vibe to create another world. Beauty and emotion in sound for the new year. 
Overstand takes things in a more minimal direction, building gradually into what becomes an all-out, postmodern club banger, with engineering strongly to the fore. This is swiftly followed by Start It, which has a more mysterious air to it, blending some MC rhymes with a stinging, heart-attack kick drum, eerie samples, and slinking, in and out bass pressure. The various tracks on the EP show off Conduct’s ability to mix and blend up the styles, but still keeping a very consistent feel to the release. It fits perfectly with Lifestyle’s vibe of the different and the unusual.

Closer Anything sums up the EP perfectly, showcasing Conduct’s musicality, attention to detail and ability to control anything they lay their hands on. Low-slung, mean and moody, this is the sound which is taking the music forward. Keep an eye out for LFS037, and take a trip into the Shadows.

Hailing from Sydney, Australia, Lancelot is the latest in a line of talented musicians to join the Anjunadeep roster. His debut release on the label, “Givin’ It Up / Make Ends Meet” set the blogosphere alight and has been supported by everyone from T. Williams and Danny Howard to Tensnake and The Magician. 

In fact MK, fresh from his unstoppable UK #1 single, loved "Givin’ It Up" so much that he found the time in his hectic schedule to turn out a remix. Built around the swirling vocals of Antony & Cleopatra, his mix is a masterclass in groove, blending shuffling percussion with an infectious yet subtle piano refrain to create a true retro gem. Reminiscent of the classic 90s piano house sound that MK himself helped pioneer, it’s easy to see why he’s one of dance music’s most exciting artists right now.

Isaac Tichauer and DJ Nibc take their remix down an equally retro, but altogether different path, channelling breakbeat influences in a ravey piano number. A surging piano riff drives the track through to an old school breakdown straight out of 1992, complete with melodic stabs, syncopated drums and of course the infectious vocal. 

Rounding off the package in style are UK up and comers Panda. Fresh from releases on Cool Kid Music and Sound of Sumo, they bring their contemporary bass heavy sound to the original. Once again the irresistible vocal leads the way, accompanied by bouncy piano stabs and a potent bassline.
