Doggystyle: The Samples [20th Anniversary]

What a night at SET Action Stage in L'Aquila! Amazing setup at the club, sound system, crowd and everything. One of the best gigs from my ITALIA TOUR 2014, it's definitely very worthy to be on the podcast. At this party I started my set with something kind of dark and moody, then slowly building up the energy to the next level. Only with the right combination of the club and crowd lets me do the right job.

Deckard - My Definition Of Chill Vol. X An End Can Be A Start

For this installment of my chill series I found inspiration the moment I heard a vocodered voice singing Hotel California in the Luxxury edit. A week later I heard AfroQBen's amazing remix of Sweet Emotion by Aerosmith and I was off to the races. Being a New Wave kid as a teen I didn't get into many of these songs until my adult years and yet somehow I listen to this mix and it makes me feel like a teenager again.

“It was probably a stupid idea, the kind that, if you sat down and thought about it, you’d have laughed about, scrapped and moved on to the next one.
It went like this – get a back room in a dirty old boozer on a Sunday night. Get a pair of DJs who were more renowned for their party rockin’ than their fluid mixing. Get guests , anyone and everyone from pop stars to shit hot DJs and get them to play their favourite records. The only rule – our guys go on last. Build up your own anthems, find new heroes, find your own stimulants. You think you’ll get maybe 70 people, but after 13 weeks when you call it a day, you’re turning away 700. Somebody said ‘blow the whole joint up’. We did.
The Social first rocked the tiny basement of The Albany on Sunday August 6th 1994. In the months since then, it’s shifted venue a few times. Months or years down the line, all you have left as a souvenir of a life affirming night out is a crumpled flyer. With these albums, we’re trying to bring a little slice on the Social into your home."

Traveling to DJ over new years in Brazil was an amazing experience. Missing Breakfast of Champions and not being around my close loved ones was not the easiest call to make. I'm so thankful to have met so many very fun and awesome people even though I could barely speak a word of Portuguese. A big thank you to Ricardo and Fred from the Peninsula Beach Club Hotel booking me as their resident DJ.
