This is the album opener.  I wanted something to give it a great jump.  We were discussing the afflictions of Job in Sunday School when the idea of the thunder and rain being a way of God talking and how we ignore that power. 
  When it came to mixing, I took some ideas from the progressive rock band Genesis and used the idea of panning guitars and added the note D1 of a stand-up bass from my Roland SO-8 keyboard for more bottom end.  Double tracked vocals, multi-layered guitars, instruments panning and switching places, rarely in today's music does any of this happen.

When it came time to mix, I had three pages of ideas written out and ended up using half because it was too costly to achieve.  Still used the typical vocal production as previous tracks. Used guitar patches to get more punch than able to get from original studio recording.  Used a tympani patch from my Roland S0-8 since I couldn't afford the real thing.
  The snare drum used on this track was my first snare.  My parents bought it for me in 1977 for my thirteenth birthday.  I still have that snare drum 39 years later and still use it even though I have 18 snare drums to choose from.

Open The Eyes Of My Heart

   When recording this track, I began to think of Bible verses I could use to open this song.  One evening after Praise band rehearsal, I opened my Bible and the verse "jumped" out at me. 
  Production events, not much.  Gave  a little more separation in backing vocals and brought them up front about 5db to make them fill the song better.  Ran Glen's guitar through a tremolo patch and added some reverb to strengthened the effect as the song continued.

In preproduction, I wasn't happy with the acoustic guitar sound and talked with Scott about options.  He suggested he recut the acoustic and go from there.  I offered a few suggestions I was looking for and he delivered a stellar work.  
  Mixing the track was a joy.  Since I decided no percussion, I spent hours working on the production.  The guitars were fun and adding a tremolo to Glenn's leads lifted the piece even more. This is my favorite track on the whole cd.
