Skankandbass is dedicated towards the official promotion of record labels and artists in the world of drum & bass music. Since inception in 2010, Skankandbass has unearthed some of the freshest talents in the scene and has opened many doors for unsigned artists. Now, a few years in to the game, Skankandbass decides to take on the role of a record label to put together a series of free download singles which aims to further help spread the work of the best unsigned, newcomer artists who deserve more recognition.

Elias Traynor is an experimental music producer from the South West of England whose music can best be described as a fusion of footwork, early 2000's R&B and, most prominently, Drum & Bass. Similarly, Third Degree predominantly dabbles with rough, neuro-funk mid range sounds and clean breakbeats, but he proves his versatility by firing out more melody-driven liquid tracks and even some slower, experimental pieces.

The two producers combine for SNB016, offering 'Contrivance' and 'Warning Signs' which features Charlie Brix - a London born, Bristol based dwelling vocalist specialising in underground music and nominated for DNBA 'Best Vocalist' 2016. Expect to hear a lot more from these producers in 2017!

Manchester artists KinKai and Akemi Fox join forces with Amsterdam's Lenzman, releasing two remixes to raise money and awareness for Black Minds Matter UK and Justice for Shukri Abdi on the 19th of June, joining Bandcamp in their Juneteenth campaign.

Released exclusively via The North Quarter's Bandcamp all profit for Lenzman's remixes of KinKai's “Plantain & Champagne (feat. Saffron Grace) and Akemi Fox's “Fallin” will go to these UK charities, one of which is making mental health topics relevant and accessible for all black people in the UK, while the other is seeking justice for the tragic death of 12 year old Shukri Abdi. Black lives matter, black lives have always mattered. It's time for change. If not now, then when.

Lenzman & Dan Stezo: two friends from way back when, connecting through a mutual love of music. Recording mixtapes became a tradition that has spanned decades. Through the years the music industry changed, technology changed and life circumstances changed... but the mixtapes remain.

28 tracks mixed with Lenzman's seamless flow, backed with Dan Stezo's introspective lyrics. This is a journey through The North Quarter's varied catalogue featuring all the artists that made the label the respected entity it is today.
