Cool opening with crazy rockin feedback guitar !!!

GOING DOWN

I don't generally do covers,  but while I am completing my fourth record I need a little rest from time to time, just to fight the lack of inspiration :) And what's better than recording a Beatles' song?

As usual this is a one man band project, this time I even sing! I am not a singer, but I didn't use any autotune plugin whatsoever.

He Said: Well we had this appreciation for this music in a show we watch and some of the piano work was amazing, and very nuanced and Jaime was inspired to slow things down a bit and let it flow out and man did it ever . Im biased perhaps and certainly spoiled to get the share music with Jaime. With that out of the way, THE FIRST few notes coming out of her piano was all it took, and I just could tell this was going to be an emotionally connected effect and affect. It was such a great time for me building a billow around that and keep that gorgeous piano out front and center in the mix, with just a touch of some deep wide low frequency blankets to keep it there. I am stunned at how glowing this peace resonates with the inward of Jaime's personality... its really very cool I feel.

She said: this piece was inspired by some piano music we heard on an episode of Counterpart...the piano music was SO minimal yet SO emotional. I loved how so little said so much. I told Gary that i would like to try to play something like that. So, the next day, i sat down at the piano and these melodies came...one piano snippet at a time. after I was done playing...and i sat back to listen..i truly could not believe i created/played this. the melodies (still) make me SO very emotional...I sent the piano Midi over to Gary...he really loved it and said he didn't want to add too much to it...he said he wanted to create a musical cushion to cradle the piano...and that is exactly what he did. I absolutely love what he did with this piano piece...it feels full and lush and...complete :)

The song was originally performed and recorded by The Temptations for the Gordy (Motown) label (released in 1967)- written by Norman Whitfield, Edward Holland Jr. and by Cornelius Grant in 1966 / produced by Norman Whitfield. And many cover versions have been recorded since then (by Rare Earth, The Undisputed Truth, The Faces/ Rod Stewart...and by Richie Kotzen).

As a guitarist, I've loved the Richie Kotzen's blues rock version the most among those covers(as well as the Faces' live version for BBC, as a drummer) and that's one of what I've most often played with my band during past two decades. While, there are so many different live versions of Richie's with his different improvised phrases and I've played own improvisation, too. This time, I made the backing music basically following Richie’s studio version (released in 1998 on his album “What Is...”) while adding some minor arrangements by me, and Jimmy sang his own version of the vocals onto it, which I appreciated very much.

Funk / Rock is a favourite genre of mine, so it was especially pleasing to invite my guitarist friend from Italy Daniele Turani to do the lead & rhythm guitar on this powerful instrumental. I also love vintage keyboards, so this one features Rhodes Electric Piano, Hammond B3 Organ & Hohner Clavinet. The drums & bass provide a heavy, rumbling track to build everything onto. WHaT'S GoiNG ON

This track is based on those old TV themes, The man from uncle, Joe 90, Man in a suitcase, Batman, etc. This was written on a keyboard and then played on Fen (the broken Stratocaster). Additional inspiration by Guinness in a bottle and a theoretically low cholesterol diet.
Guitars with a floating whammy bar are a mystery to me, so i have abandoned the floating whammy bar for now and tightened the springs so the bridge is tight to the body. I can tune the guitar OK ,the action is lower,  i can still dive bomb and can still do a small Hank Marvin wobble. Mystery solved.
