Here is Modern Amusement Podcast 03...I was enjoying a caipirinha in my hotel room on my last night in Sao Paulo this weekend, when I heard a rapid metallic knock at the door…   Thinking it was an errant room service, when I opened the door and saw nothing I was shocked…

Until I heard a series of bleeps and tones and a shiver coming from the ground and looked down.  I was surprised to see b6 the backwards motion robot again.  He was shivering and cold to the touch and his outstretched claw held a disc labeled “Lee Foss – Modern Amusement Podcast 03”   below was a a message from a future me that this was a recording of an old school house set from the early 2000's played at the 2088 Neptune Ball.  While excited to see more evidence that in the future both time travel and planetary colonies are possible I was disappointed that once again there was no tracklisting on the disc.

This coming Saturday night the sounds of Berlin based imprint 50 Weapons will come to grace Room Two for the entirety of the evening's party proceedings. While it's kind of impossible to summarise the vibe across every single record the label has released, due to the huge scope of artists on their roster (which contains the likes of Shed, Marcel Dettmann, Addison Groove and even Thom Yorke's other project Atoms For Peace) ensuring that the spread of techno tinged music they've released has immense range to it. But,  what we can say for certain is that the 50 Weapons seal comes with a reputation as a mark for quality and to instigate movement on the dance floor. 

For the event in question the artists selected to rep this 50 Weapons feeling are some of our favourite; Room Two regular Cosmin TRG is set to return alongside A Made Up Sound as well as  Phon.o who this spring has dropped a pair of fresh EP's on his home label and who has also recorded this club focussed mix to show us what we can expect from his DJ set at the weekend. You can listen to that in the player below while we also have a quick catch up with evolving producer as we discover how Cracking Space Pts 1 & 2 marks a desire to set out Phon.o's true sound and finally work in a lifetimes worth of musical influences along the way.

Alright folks, here's my 2014 Burning Man retrospective mix. I had a lovely time out there and got to play a lot of great gigs. But one thing I didn't happen to do this year was play any sunset music - so I'm doing it now instead. This is a style and a sound that is quintessentially Burning Man in my mind. Those soft early evening hours as the sun melts over the horizon. Music that is emotive and expansive, delicate yet strong, touched with a tinge of melancholy, but pretty and hopeful at the same time. Hope it takes you back just a little bit...

As a studio and live musician for many German major artists, Johannes Brecht was able to build a reputation as a talented newcomer in recent years. Slowly it starts to rise and it gets bigger with every step up, reaching for the sky. Blood orange, some of us were confused, was this the moon? After several, well worth it hours of troubleshooting, I finally fixed my recording issue & recorded two live mixes. They were inspired by the women in my life who have blown my mind in their abilities to touch others with their creativity. Whether through music, art, or just in the way they carry themselves and the substance they give to the world, they've provided the bits and pieces that helped constitute the woman & artist I have become

Upon receiving the output generated by these infinitely creative individuals, I realized there is something inherently special in music & art produced by women. There is a high priority for feeding the soul, for addressing complex emotions through tones & melodies, for providing us with that sense of deep SATISFACTION that we ALL desire.

We want to feel it, and we want others to feel it, & it's a damn beautiful thing. Thank you to all the girls who helped ignite this fire inside me. I am eternally grateful & so happy I can now give back.

Over the course of an electronic music obsession more than 20 years strong, Mark Slee has evolved a deep musical style that reflects a unique personality, blending intuition and introspection with a methodical approach to production and curation.

Fully committed to digging the troves of modern dance music, Slee aims to uncover releases that stand out. His monthly mix show on Proton Radio showcases his discoveries, with over 100 mixes presented in the past decade. In 2016, Slee joined forces with musical partner Atish to form the label Manjumasi. Debuting with his own Nocturne Belle EP, Manjumasi celebrates quirky dance music that explores new territory without forgetting the dance floor. Beyond Manjumasi, Slee's original productions and remixes have been released on such imprints as Cityfox, Seven Villas, Kindisch, Everything Will Be OK, Sound Avenue, Lost Diaries, Cosmic Society, Magician On Duty, Nugget, Where the Heart Is, Proton Music, and more. In addition to regular appearances on his San Francisco home turf, Slee's style has earned him DJ sets in notable locales, such as Kater Blau and Sisyphos in Berlin, Cityfox in New York, and Robot Heart.

Since 2016 Slee has also been developing immersive, spatial audio-visual production tools for systems of up to 32 channels via Envelop. Notable live performances with Envelop include MUTEK.SF and FORM Arcosanti.
