28 Lines is the latest recording project of Colombian artist David Cardona, who came to the US at the age of 16 with a dream of graduating from Berklee College of Music. He successfully brought this dream to fruition in 2012 with a dual-major degree in Contemporary Writing and Production, and Electronic Production and Sound Design, and has since blazed a trail that has led him to his first Grammy nomination for his engineering work on “Deran” by Bombino. In addition to his consistent collaboration with various independent artists, Cardona has also worked with a number of highly recognized and accomplished artists including John Patitucci, Matthew Nicholl, Oscar Stagnaro, and Fabián Gallón. 

Each movement of the forthcoming “Stages” presents a stripped down parallel to those within 28 Lines’ latest release, “Clap With Me”, which began streaming everywhere on September 3rd, and invites listeners, musicians, and producers alike to reimagine the original tracks by adding their own recordings. As an independent, home-recording artist himself, Cardona strives to spread the collaborative spirit of the original project, which derived from fellow artist Mostacho Xprmnt’s song “Clap Again”. The removal of all vocal and lyrical elements leaves space for melodic and rhythmic experimentation, and the exclusion of select instrumental tracks allows collaborators to take the project in entirely new directions. 

“Stages” is set to entice its listeners along a musical journey of self-reflection in a time when external exploration, and more particularly, the sharing of personal musical experiences, has become extremely limited. The diversity of each “Stages” movement illustrates Cardona’s creative independence, as well as the technical and sonic expertise that he has cultivated through the development of his home studio.
