RESISTANCE SESSIONS GUEST MIX #37 - by Yoku Vanda

Born in October 1960, Yoku Vanda first encountered psychedelic music at 15—and from that moment, it never let him go. In the mid-90s, Yoku attended his first rave and house party, and by 1997, he was fully immersed in the world of psy-trance. For over a decade, he was an active part of the North German psy-trance scene, until he took a long creative break in 2010.
In 2021, Yoku made his return—this time as a DJ. The modern psy-trance sound didn’t resonate with him, so Yoku took a different path. He began blending various genres while reviving the signature rhythm of 2000s psy-trance. Long, beatless breakdowns? Not his thing. Instead, The DJ either shorten them or keep the energy flowing with a subtle beat—because nothing disrupts the dancefloor vibe more than unnecessary pauses.
Yoku Vanda's sets focus on progressive tracks and genre-crossing mixes, all designed with one goal: to guide dancers on a journey, gradually building towards an electrifying peak. Every track is carefully placed, creating a seamless story that energizes the dance floor and sparks the imagination.

RESISTANCE SESSIONS GUEST MIX #35 - by Alain M.

Alain M. started DJ’ing in his early 20s and played a variety of clubs. From teenage influences in progressive rock, metal and blues, and later New York and Chicago house, Dutch techno and early trance, his style has evolved towards the more melodic, infectiously rhythmic and thoughtful sounds of progressive house, with a particular fondness for Argentinian productions.
Over his years as a DJ, Alain has cultivated a signature melodic, danceable, and thoughtful style with enough surprises to keep even the most devout listeners on their toes. He has organized and collaborated in a number of events including Levitar, Sunday Meet & Beat, Sit-Down Sessions, Shake my Thursday, Ultraviolet, Expeditions and more, attracting a thoughtful crowd who stay mesmerized by his melodic, danceable sets, always peppered with delightfully unexpected sonic elements.

In 2019 he started Ottawa Prog Vibes, which has grown into a weekly radio show that has been broadcast on several radio stations including Cosmos Radio (Germany), Dinámica Radio (Argentina), Beach Radio (UK), and currently Saturo Sounds (UK), Chill Lover Radio (New York) and Blast the Radio (Ottawa).
Alain M. is also a guest DJ submitting regular sets to several radio and online outlets. He is a resident on UK-based Saturo Sounds Radio and on X-Beat Radio (France, Belgium).

Alain has also produced and co-produced a few original tracks, released on Future Avenue, BeKool Records, What Happens Records, Oxytocin Records, with more on the way.

He has appeared as a guest on a number of shows in several countries including the UK, Argentina, Spain, France, The Netherlands, Brazil, Sri Lanka, Peru, Turkey, Israel and the US. In Canada, he has been featured as a guest DJ at several events by Ottawa-based Music.Art.Ppl, on CHUO FM’s Vanguard Pulse Radio, on CKCU FM’s Lost In Bass and Mapped Out Radio, on Montreal’s Afterhour radio show and on Toronto’s ION radio show.

What Alain M says about the episode:
I wanted this set for Resistance Sessions to be very special. I have heard that Poland has a vibrant rock scene and an equally vibrant electronic scene. So I decided to pay tribute to two of my most significant musical influences: Pink Floyd (which accompanied me through my high school years, into my 20’s and ever since), and the late and regretted Sebastian Busto, a brilliant electronic musician from Argentina, musically trained in rock and whose sense of symphonic melody gained through progressive rock he managed to brilliantly transpose into progressive house.

Most people would instinctively associate Pink Floyd with musical flight that traces a complete story arc that features several emotional moments of different kinds, but would consider it blasphemous to suggest that you could dance to it. With this set, I hope to show that both are possible.

Bio:
Anna Maria Harokopou, better known as Anna Maria X or AMX, is a prominent figure in Greece’s electronic music scene. Born in Athens and trained in sociology, she began her radio journey in 1996 on the pioneering station Klik FM. In 2001, she moved to Best Radio, where her show Best Weekend Mix became a favorite among dance music lovers worldwide.
She went on to host a dance music show on Mad TV for four years and became the voice behind countless TV and radio commercials. Since 2010, she has been the official voice of the Onassis Cultural Foundation. At the peak of its influence, she was the resident DJ at the legendary Athenian club +Soda.
AMX has released six acclaimed mix compilations (Believer 1&2, Sleepless Drive 1&2, Back2Back Sessions 1&2 with G.Pal), and her vocal track "Ocean of Blue" became a classic of Greek electronica with international recognition.
Her DJ career has taken her across the globe — from Canada and Argentina to Germany, Turkey, and beyond — performing at top venues like Stereo Montreal, Pacha Buenos Aires, Exit Kaunas, Cavo Paradiso Mykonos, and, of course, +Soda Athens.
In 2011, she completed her vocal studies at the Greek National Conservatory and contributed music to the Greek feature film Paradise and the act Lovechild. She also collaborated with producer Stelios Vassiloudis on his debut album, released on Bedrock Records.
Between 2012 and 2014, Anna Maria hosted several radio shows on Best 92.6, En Lefko, and Join Radio, while also producing her own mixes and live DJ sets. She later launched HomeBase Radio, a dedicated platform for her mixes, followed by HomeBase Athens, through which she organized two major events celebrating 20 years of +Soda.
With the return of Best Radio 92.6, AMX marked two decades of her radio presence. You can catch her live daily from 8–9pm and every Friday at midnight on best926.gr.
