Stretching out towards the Blue Mountains in the west of bustling Sydney, George Alhabel creates an "Omega Station". A seismic bass groove reverberates across plateau escarpments as heavy beat anchors the rhythmic scaffold. White-noise effects crash like waves onto the rocks below, as smooth pads and glistening synths create a momentary stillness before a powerful denouement extends over the sonic horizon. A frequent flyer over the Mango Alley airwaves finds Belarusian star soaring to new heights. Subtle references to "Omega Station" create a new variation that finds brilliance in new aural overtones through Michael A. Familiarly dark, a powerful force of nature rises out of bassline dominance and hypnotic rhythm.

Returning from "Astrona", ARTN presents a new vision of "Omega Station" from a land of rich history and geographical splendour. Cedar tree forests create a verdant canopy as swirling synths whistle through ancient branches to the white-capped peaks of Mount Lebanon. A pulsating bassline develops in familiar patterns as syncopated synth phrases exude class. A new icebreaker from Forty Cats reaches dizzying heights with a bouncing bassline and driving rhythmic force. Operating out of his Brooklyn studio, Mike Isai is a new name to grace the Meanwhile catalogues as the Australian imprint delivers its 18th release with “Home / 87 North”. A single remix comes from fellow US artist, Forerunners.

A relative newcomer to the Progressive House scene, Mike Isai’s nascent production career has already seen a debut on the Nick Warren led, Hope Recordings, via September 2020’s “Pillars to Butterflies” EP. A March 2021 reworking of Shanil Alox’s “Algorithm” for Droid9 illustrated Isai’s remix capabilities, as the US star now debuts on Meanwhile with his twin-tracker.

Opening proceedings, “Home” is a dark and sultry piece that pulsates hypnotically through its near 9-minute voyage with a panoply of textured layers and white-noise effects. Quickly hitting its stride, a pounding kick is accompanied by an immaculately syncopated synth motif that provides the basis for a counterpoint phrase to sit elegantly on top in glittering repetitive pattern. Reaching a rousing filtered denouement at the mid-point, “Home” drops back into a familiar arrangement as all elements combine to impressive effect in the third movement.

Continuing the powerful rhythmic framework of its partner, “87 North” immediately impresses with its 16th note bassline and seismic kick. Another syncopated synth loop provides an imposing trademark production technique as haunting melodies drift over the mid-range, drenched in reverb and white-noise washes. Coruscating pads add further intrigue as the 7-minute piece evolves, coming fully to the fore in a ‘wall of sound’ breakdown, before the second half picks up the pace again with percussive intensity. The juxtaposition of meandering melodic threads and bassline urgency thus creates an impressively woven dynamism.

Another new artist to grace Meanwhile finds Arizona based Brenden LaBonte creating a potent wave of success with his Forerunners moniker. With over a double century of production credits to his name for some of the finest modern dance imprints, Sudbeat Music, Anjunadeep, and Black Hole have all played host to the US artist’s emotive soundscapes. Reworking “Home”, the Forerunners remix is chock full of the trademark soundscapes that characterise LaBonte’s work, with whispering melodies floating atop a powerful beat and ticking hi-hat groove. A relentless bassline sequence adds weight and poise over the 8-minute offering as subtle variations on Mike Isai’s original make their presence felt. Pausing for breath at a spine-tingling mid-point, cadenced bass groove and subtle melodic prowess hit the heights in the latter stages.

Returning to production duties for the 4th release on their evolving Meanwhile imprint, GMJ and Matter present "Eldarin". A pair of remixes come from Sri Lankan and Colombian talents.

Hitting their straps on numerous occasions across a broad and celebrated career, GMJ and Matter continue to make waves in Port Phillip Bay with their distinctive and renowned musical style. Joining forces on over 50 production credits for the likes of Anjunadeep, Balance Music and Proton Music, GMJ and Matter's combined talent is a formidable force. Now reprising the success of their "Lost on Origin" and "Gauntlet" EPs for Meanwhile, the pair come together for a third time. "Eldarin" is a typically dynamic affair with all the hallmarks that have made the pair such revered names in the underground dance scene. A glorious bouncing bassline groove and ticking hi-hat percussion lays the foundation for densely textured pads to weave their way across the near 9-minute offering. Redolent in trademark delays and reverb tails, subtle motifs meander across proceedings before an extended piano sequence cascades across the breakdown. Now making his Meanwhile debut, the Subandrio remix is a highly intelligent reworking of "Eldarin" that retains the rhythmic and bassline integrity of the original while introducing a swathe of new melodic material that bristles with arpeggiated sequences that shimmer in delays and subtle new phrasing. When we talk about Progressive we immediately think of evolution, development, change, transformation, inherent stages of existence itself. Nature V.A is these concept’s audible interpretation from a musical perspective. 

Ginger Mercury starts. Written by Arnold T and Alain Pauwels, novel producers from France and Belgium respectively, this fine piece counts right away with the great Hernan Cattaneo´s support on Resident 447. Ginger Mercury opens doors to a liberating and optimistic experience in the presence of the cautious sequence’s work, arpeggios and slight pads, added to an angelical voice plus warm basses. 

A trip of total positivism. In charge of the second original, the well-known French DJ Producer Christian Monique dazzles with Rain Spirit, a track that transcends the earthy. Deep feeling, celestial vocal and wisely structured atmospheres, are some of this composition´s factors that entraps you at once. Like a whisper, sound´s textures ship us on a journey to the essential. Christian doesn’t mistake. 

In collaboration, Dylan Deck and Shanil Alox gather talent for this VA´s third delivery. Right from Malta and Sri Lanka, Malgudi is the piece that arrives from these artist´s creation. With detailed percussion and admirable groove in perfect synchrony with Nature´s flow, this track is the connector between the physical and the spiritual world. Perfect club´s material to rise the frequency and connect with the spiral. 

From Brazil, Andre Moret comes to give a luxury closure to this launching. Aruanda, this talented artist´s original piece, harmonizes the experience´s culmination placing itself in the vibrating neutrality without losing the conceptual path. The meticulous melodic elaboration and the structural coolness establish a travel´s summary and maybe a purpose to continue it as well.

Eros, is the 7th EP of Various Artist from Droid9 South America, it includes 3 original mixes of pure Progressive House made by great artists. Among them are Argentine producers such as Konte, Andres Moris, Colou Befu and Ignacio Berardi.

Voice of experience, is the first track on this EP, made by Konte. In this track you can appreciate an ambient and dark sound, along with a very well achieved base, accompanied by a deep house sound to some extent. This creation keeps us in tune all the time, it is an ideal track for any time of the night, either at the end of a warm up or to generate a calmer atmosphere in an extensive set.

Into the light, is the second track, made by Andres Moris. This track obtained the support of Guy J (Echos 11/13/2020), in it we can notice in this creation a fine mixture in the Progressive House style, you can see solid drums accompanied by a powerful bassline, which when combined With the melody it begins to take us on a one-way trip to another dimension. Everything that seemed heavenly turns dark, minimal-style sounds begin to enter our ears which keeps the crowd to keep moving. It is an ideal track for any type of environment , in which listeners will go through different states of mind when being heard.

Sayonara, third track compiled by Colou Befu and Ignacio Berardi. You can see in this creation, a mix between an aggressive yet hypnotic and enveloping sound that progressively mutates and takes us on a journey from beginning to end. The combination of drums, melody and bass makes it sustain a good groove for the dance floor, which holds us to the floor and keeps us in constant motion. Undoubtedly this track can be used to exploit the night on any given dancefloor
