Although it’s been a year to forget for most of the electronic music scene, we’re happy to say that Nōpi has come through the tumultuous times stronger than ever. He began the year making his debut with us on the inaugural Blanche project, seizing the spotlight with an XYZ instant classic - Mayaya. Since then, he’s graced the likes of TRYBESof, Anjunadeep, and Kindisch, establishing himself at the core of the deep and melodic community.

As a final nod to his defining year thus far, we’re thrilled to have the Ukranianian back on the label to close the circle on 2020. Landscape Cloud is a project we’ve been looking forward to for many months, harnessing the tones that we’ve come to love from Nōpi.

Melfica continues to showcase Nōpi’s percussive mastery, while inviting sparkling melodies into the fold. Orchestral strings brace the bridges, presenting big builds back into the kick, culminating in a pensive and mature production from the Ukranian.

Morttagua brings his first single of the year with the deep and mellow “Pallas”. 

Pallas is a track with long history on the making as Morttagua produced the first version of the track in early 2016.  Initially the track wasn’t planned to be released, but Morttagua showed it to the legendary Luciano, when both were sharing a studio session in Switzerland in 2018, and it immediately got an amazing response from him. When getting this important feedback from Luciano Morttagua finally decided to release the track and was just waiting for the right moment.  

Now with the Organic House genre making big waves on the scene,  Morttagua found it a perfect time to release the track. 

Pallas is a very melodic peace of art with harmonic pianos, strings and guitar melodies surrounding a soft ethereal vocal. On top of the very emotional feel of the track, Morttagua adds a very unique percussion work to make PALLAS literally go through our six senses.

On the Remix duties for PALLAS we bring legendary Nick Warren teaming up with Argentinian rising star Nicolas Rada. 

Nick and Rada change the original into a more hypnotic dance floor weapon, with that special “Soundgarden” trademark sound that is capturing the imagination of many fans around the world. 
With an astonishing drum work and mix design, this Remix takes us into an atmospheric journey through lush pads and introspective melodies, giving us the perfect combination of harmony and groove for our soul and body. Simply timeless!

Premiere: Monojoke - Take Me Home [AMITABHA]

Kicking off 2021 by continuing to support up and coming talents in the modern underground dance arena, Meanwhile begins the year with a twin-track offering from gifted Ukrainian artist, Nōpi, and his sublime “Spoon Light” EP.

One of the brightest stars in the underground house cosmos over the past eighteen months, Nōpi has continued to excel with a raft of original and remix material throughout 2020. An array of leading imprints has thus queued up to feature the Ukrainian’s work with Cid Inc.’s Replug, the ever-reliable, Anjunadeep and Jacob Henry’s Silk Music all releasing original music in the last months of the year; the latter with the mesmerising seven-track “Bila” EP that has seen Nōpi reach a fitting high point at year’s end.

Now debuting on Meanwhile, the title track is a scintillating tour de force that bristles with trademark emotion and glorious melodic brio. Driven purposefully forward with rich, sustained bassline and delicate percussive flair, shimmering pads and muted arpeggio pan the stereo spectrum with ease as ethereal vocal cuts whisper barely heard phrases, rich in reverb and delay. Building in intensity via a glorious breakdown, “Spoon Light” picks up the pace again in the third movement to create a rarely heard emotive intensity as dizzying gated synths add further aural colour.

Partner track, “Creative Sheet” continues the intelligent melodic narrative of its predecessor as an intricate percussive top-line and immaculately syncopated bass groove provide a wonderfully worked rhythmic framework. Evolving seamlessly into the second movement, an expertly woven sonic tapestry reveals itself via panned effects, pulsating white-noise washes and potent synth phrasing. The result is a magnificent illustration of Nōpi’s talent and ability to match groove and melody with poise and purpose.

Bending sonic reality with expert skill and craftsmanship, Nōpi’s “Spoon Light” is full of iridescent colour.

Continuing 2021 with typical flair and immaculate craftsmanship, Meanwhile once again turn to their label heads and renowned progressive house stars, GMJ & Matter, with “The Path / Perfect Storm”. A single remix comes from legendary Dutch artist, Alex O’Rion.

Gradually starting to see their impressive skills behind the decks once more recognised in a live setting in their native Australia, GMJ & Matter have continued to spend much of their time in the studio environment during the global pandemic. The resultant efforts have produced a range of stunning new original material as “The Path” ably demonstrates. Characterised by a sumptuous rolling groove that powers forward at unrelenting pace, a bassline as deep as the Laurentian abyss sits effortlessly alongside triplet hi-hats and seismic kick. Before long an array of pads, reverb-coated effects and a shimmering arpeggio pave the way for a wonderful lead synth to shine. Hitting its stride at the mid-point, arpeggiated variations and open filters create a rousing crescendo in a commanding work that showcases the Australian duo’s skills in abundance.

Continuing the narrative of inexorable percussive groove and bottomless bassline, “Perfect Storm” is another club floor-filler of epic proportions. Pulsating pads and white-noise effects jostle with an open-envelope arpeggio that pitches and falls as it glistens through sonic overlays. As the various elements converge and diverge in rolling waves, the title provides an apposite sonic image for a track containing all the necessary qualities to provide smooth sailing chart success.

Straight from a year that has seen him scale the heights of the underground dance scene with unrivalled pace, Dutch icon, Alex O’Rion returns. After a year that saw releases for Cid Inc.’s Replug, Hernan Cattaneo’s Sudbeat Music and Nick Warren’s The Soundgarden, O’Rion’s Meanwhile remixes of GMJ & Matter’s “Gauntlet” were yet another notable highlight along a stellar 2020. Now returning with his inimitable style and flair, the Alex O’Rion remix of “The Path” builds on the deep undulating groove of the original whilst building a new bassline component that bristles with intent, emotion and dancefloor prowess. Using the central arpeggiated motif of “The Path”, richly textured pads provide new melodic direction as white-noise washes crash against the rhythmic bedrock in pulsating waves. The resultant interpretation finds Alex O’Rion at his consummate best with a flawless mix of technique and precision.

Navigating “The Path” of promise with grace and style, a “Perfect Storm” of sonic ingenuity sees GMJ & Matter continue to ride a tidal wave full of success.
