Here's an excerpt of the sound track composed using the sounds of cotton mill machines, to accompany Caroline Radcliffe, Lancashire clog dancer. 

Our dance and AV piece aims to highlight the industrial roots of Lancashire clog dancing by juxtaposing dance steps with the machine actions which directly inspired them. Whats your name and where are you from?

I’m Hannah! I DJ & produce as Hannah Account & I’m based in Queens.

Can you tell me a little about the mix?

This mix is loosely based on a set I played last week at The End. I had planned to play dub reggae tracks one at a time echoed out between tracks. When I got to the gig I learned that the mixer for the evening (a Xone 92, which I had never played on) lacked effects. Not having the time to run home & grab a delay pedal, I instead decided to play dance tracks that draw on dub’s heavy bass & drums & eerie atmosphere. Even though I had to figure out the mixer while performing I was still pretty pleased with my track selection & went home wanting to keep exploring this theme. Like dub, this mix makes me think about ghosts & the weight of the present.

What are you most excited about that you’re working on right now?

I think getting to play a whole bunch of my own tracks out at Bossa a couple weeks ago made me catch the producing bug again.  I’m trying to put out a lot more music this year! I’m mostly trying to finish some of the dozens of tracks I have that are somewhere between 25-90% complete before I really dive into new stuff though. I feel like I make tracks in one long session or very slowly over the course of many months with not a whole lot of in-between. 

Any hobbies outside of music?

I love cooking! Like DJing it’s all about combination timing & selection :)

I’m throwing myself a birthday party on Saturday April 13th at Jade Bar! I’ll be doing the closing set for that I’m also performing the night after on April 14th at The End in The Breaking Capacity breakbeat/jungle/dnb party. If you know me you know those genres are my bread & butter :) No pressure to come see me two nights in a row but I’ll also love you forever if you do!!

recordings of the anti-music workshop broadcasts from the studios of 91.7 FM WHUS date back to early 2003 and cover as wide a path as possible through electronic music and broadcast improvisation. AMW guests have contributed over the years in several different methods, including live internet collaboration as well as studio sessions. live performances include laptops, effects gear, scrap metal, circuit-bent objects, harmonicas, and traditional instruments. correct musical selection during the broadcast is achieved using turntables and digital sources, with an emphasis placed on exploring the damaging capacity of the specific signal path used.

special and expensive connectors allow the staff of the anti-music workshop to interface in real time with a bevy of monostable attractor units placed in varying locations worldwide to assist in the processing capacity requirements of the broadcast. periodic realignment with several key texts ensures usability.

anti-music readiness training has been employed by several local organizations to help shape incoming broadcasters' technical readiness to respond to the impossible, with very promising results charted over a 2 year period.

the staff of the AMW have experience in all aspects of signal amplification and alteration, computation, and training and are available upon request across new england.
