EKATA debuts on Data Point and joins the Censor crew with the slick 4 track Videodrome EP. 

A stark-cold light flickers on the VDU of the internal server rack that once provided navigation for the Censor crew as they traverse their known systems and orbit the 3rd Moon: Data Point. 

A system that once forged paths and created wormholes across multiple dimensions, but is now locked on a new channel with EKATA engaging override and now in full control of the whole vessel on this mission. 

EKATA asserts control on the title track Videorome with fast-paced drums and synthesiser energy straight to the control deck. Machine Malfunctionen resets the controls with a darker more tripped out pace with icy leads and tight electro zaps altering the course of the ep by talking straight to the motherboard. Utopia allows EKATA to push the driving force on this ep with a 4/4 drop and pulsing cold lead sounds. Spectro_700 resets the coordinates and allows the crew safe voyage with a crescendo of synth-lines and fast paced drum-edits.

Looking at their catalogs, it's almost surprising that it took this long for Danny Daze and DeFeKt to join forces in the studio. The former has been soaking up electro vibes for decades in his native Miami, while the latter has long been practicing electro-techno alchemy from his outpost in Dublin, Ireland. On February 8, the pair's collaborative 'Pulmotor' EP will arrive via Daze's Omnidisc label, but ahead of that, we debuted the sinister sounds of "Positive Ventilation" on Red Bull Radio's First Floor, our weekly look at what's new in electronic music.

Danny Daze & DeFeKt "Positive Ventilation" [First Floor Premiere]

There's a good bunch of intense, dark and extreme, grinding electro-techno gems on the "Raval Rave Breakers" first compilation. While Boris Divider's 'Collapsed Cluster' recalls of the more clinical approach of labels like Raster-Noton, Eel manages to deliver a fresh mix of styles on 'Sraight Edge', where Old Skool Breakbeat and EBM draw an unforgettable match made in heaven. Last track on the A side comes from Classicworks boss Neuhen, but is Patricia (Opal Tapes, Spectral Sound) who remixes it: in "Supress" we can find all the magic tricks of the NYC based producer: eery atmospheres, gently distorted drums and a warm feeling of cozyness. On the flip, RNXRX delivers "Aktion Intertia", one of the most psychedelic jams he's ever did: an industrial acid track as catchy as it can be. Oakland's "Heroine From The North" sounds a bit like when New Beat became faster and more agressive, being mixed with styles like EBM and trance.

Switching within digital binaries, analogue flux, and all forms of degradation in between, a creature is kickstarted to life, as if awoken with locomotion's full might. Helena Hauff delivers a mix for Tresor's Kern series, lashing together a sound world with a potent barrage of industrial dance music.

Scorched-earth missives attract metals and mining chemicals, leaving little in its wake but aggravated and chaotic experiments of lateral hypotheses in acid brine. Like a hyperloop through this labyrinth, this high-velocity future is both beautiful and evil, glinting embers through low-bit fogged-out clusters. 100 metre-high aluminium pylons vibrate, each captivated by their electrified foundations. There is no place for dust to settle on the floor. Where a loose TB-tribalism knocks switches and pounds upward synaptic shocks, life down there is too rapid. Not to be taken lying down, this is the viable path forward without the shackles of turgid passivity. The effect is no less thrilling than crucial, as it presents an essential DJ of our times.

Settling into swift 150bpm groove, Hauff ploughs through shepherd-tone electro, ghetto bumps, and grizzled techno. A new collaborative track with Morah plays a rough game of meter, with Hauff's signature sound clear as ever ripping apart new dimensions with a brutal disorder over deceptive bass synths. The visceral crunch of the present is no more clear than at the halfway point, a threshold in which the breakneck electro falls apart, with the rabid foam of Nasenbluten's ballsy gabber anthem Intellectual Killer. Slowly more room to breathe comes into view, the pace drawn down revealing a strange sense of resolution, with expansive synths hinting at a beckoning euphoria. At this moment, Helena Hauff is clearly in full stride, uniquely melding fragile machinations against anarchic human interventions.

Kern Vol.5 releases June 19th 2020, on 2CD, as well as a 3×12″ vinyl edition highlighting the rare and exclusive cuts found in the mix, packed in a full color gatefold sleeve, featuring exclusive photography.
