ELEKTROTECHNIK - Impulse EP is functional, dark, built for the dance floor. Machine-tight sequencing stands in contrast to an emotional atmosphere across four original tracks. A tense, precisely constructed record that explores control, repetition and feelings. Dutch legend Rude 66 delivers a slowed-down mutation of ''Impulse'' with his signature vocoder work, while Teslasonic recharges ''Das Fundament'' with a tight acid bassline.

On one side, the retro-futuristic elegance of Commuter, nourished by the first vibrations of electro and a fascination for Kraftwerk and Depeche Mode. On the other, the dark, cinematic world of EKATA, a London resident and explorer of dystopian grooves inspired by science fiction. These two distinct trajectories converge on the split EP signed to Rennes-based label Ethos Records, due out on 27 June.

The project features four tracks, two from each artist, highlighting singular interpretations of electro: Commuter delivers pieces where sharp melodies and impeccable rhythms dialogue with new wave and EBM influences. EKATA, for her part, takes us on an immersive sonic journey, driven by abyssal bass and eerie synths.

Zeta Reticula - Distress Signal [MTRON043]

Following his debut album "WOMB" on X-IMG in 2024, Brussels-based OTTOMAN GRÜW returns with the "WOMB II" follow-up EP, showcasing his distinct industrial-leaning and destructive approach to electronic music once more. Two original tracks blend abrasive bass lines splayed across striding machine rhythms, layers of reverberated noise and distortion drenched vocals. 

This follow-up release is expanded by four excellent remixes by UNCONSCIOUS (IT), EKATA (UK), VIDEOTRAUM (DE) and RICARDO LAINE (CAN). "WOMB II" ends with the sinister and hallucinatory-like ambient track “Born Again, Fragmented” While the previous album is more introspective and explores our relationship with the divine, intertwined with existential dread, "WOMB II" concisely embraces the other side - along the lines of madness, chaos, and the terrifying freedom that comes from tearing reality apart.
