gone icon is a producer, singer, and "non-DJ" based in Brussels, Belgium who composes delicate pieces of whispered, processed vocals, struggling melodies, and somber, isolated percussive layers. His first track Nod, a remarkable effort of quiet and eerie ambiance, surfaced almost a year ago shortly followed by the three-tracker, self-released debut EP titled whispers r screams in which the artist showcases the main feature of the project: a wavering, ever-hesitant, at times muffled voice, uttering suffocating laments which resonate in fuzzy, squirming cyber-chambers where one could imagine the artist's creative and emotive drive would reside.

His work takes inspiration from a range of genres and stimuli that go to define his peculiar style, better described as 2020s state-of-the-art songwriting. gone icon adds to traditional vocal practices and reminiscences of classical music the post-Internet visual and conceptual identity, together with fine sound design and synthesis, and sharp, edgy frequency bursts recovered from the contemporary, deconstructed club scene. In this sense, the artist is sure as inspired by Arca, Eartheater, and Klein (reportedly so) as he is by Xiu Xiu's Jamie Stewart early works of devastating urgency and their ability to cause unmendable heart lacerations.

Today, we're honored to premiere his last single called babie, out in two day's time on April 16th. The composition, taking just over two minutes, opens to the sound of waves crashing on the shore, shortly followed by the vocals introducing the image of a face shrouded in darkness via heartfelt, intimate lyrics. The high-pitched, delicate singing is complemented by rare, dissonant sound components that go to define an unforgettable piece of minimalistic, ethereal, and emotional electronic music. Enjoy!

PRINCI @shesthatprinci announces Slicing Shadows, the lead-single and title of the Sydney-based artist’s forthcoming EP to be released on Hong Kong label Absurd TRAX.

In this single, PRINCI discards external definitions of success, and instead embraces her own.

“In a world addicted to excess, it is easy to escape from what you really want, think or know. Slicing Shadows is about listening to that deeper layer. Dissolve the distractions, slice your shadows.”

Set amongst a backdrop of urgency – descending swoops of strings, synth stabs and hovering vocals – PRINCI sings “you make me feel so good inside / I don’t want to have to hide”. The “you” PRINCI refers to is herself. It’s about opening up and honouring intuition.

Having previously worked with producers from the Sydney music community such as Atro (Slim Set), V Kim and WA?STE, Slicing Shadows represents PRINCI stepping out on her own. This single and the following EP are entirely self-produced, allowing PRINCI to offer a full sonic reflection of her identities.

Edited Arts is launching ‘Endorphins’, the first in a new series of charity compilations. Endorphins features contributions by Cassius Select, Ccontrary, DJ TESS, Emily Glass, furious styles, Hard Fantasy, Jaeho Hwang, Jasper Jarvis, Lighght, d0us, Shelley Parker and terribilis.

‘Endorphins’ is a compilation of pre and post cathartic visions & sounds. Embodying the alleviating potential of club music, 12 artists have made sonic references to the happy hormone that acts to relieve pain. Vigorous drums, shy wubs, disobedient trance, lifting breaks, and reclining interludes work towards the unrestrained mindset of this collection. This is the first release from a series that recreates psycho-sensory states of happiness, or the lack thereof.

Profits from this release will go to Black Minds Matter and Drake Music.

Lighght - Excruciating Brightness (Ode To DJ Netflex)

toiret status is the ultimate artificial butterfly, pollinating various leading experimental imprints with material that eventually blooms into the top tier experimental electronic music around. Coming from Yamaguchi, Japan, Isamu Yorichika has released a vast portfolio of releases via essential labels like Dream Disk Lab, Noumenal Loom and Orange Milk Records, including his latest full-length record 'Otohime' - one of our most favourite of 2020. We at Gin&Platonic are now delighted to guide you through his latest, collaborative-heavy EP - 'liquid house'.

Don’t get confused by it’s title though, it only refers to an ever-changing fluidity already crucial for Yorichika’s work. In contrast to the upper butterfly metaphor, he allegedly compares his workflow to the overall process of consuming, digesting and excreting food. Usually just rushing through the waste pipes, on 'liquid house', Isamu’s production fills the whole environment. Or rather - it creates it. 'liquid house' marks advanced beat-driven sound tectonics, outlined by witty synths and effected vocal samples, together forming a bumpy, unstable space constantly swaying and narrowing due to reverberation. Visiting Isamu’s liquid house is a purely joyful experience - glittery walls of the see-through interior wiggling against the laws of statics, casting glare and reflections of sun rays emitted amids this inhabitable sodden bouncy castle.

Maintaining the whole architectural process is not a one-man business tho. Isamu luckily managed to find helping hands of various remarkable producers. The Polish sound carpenter ehh hahah brings the finest of the “audio furniture“ off his latest album on Warsaw’s 𝓰𝓵𝓪𝓶𝓸𝓾𝓻 to equip the interiors of #88. The Hague-based, South Korean producer, Cat Psalm alias Sima Kim, helps setting up a proper cat climber inside of #72, while the enigmatic Soundcloud superstar Crimewave enhances #94 with decent trap-flavoured kicks. Talking remixes, Taiwanese producer Sabiwa plants some more fragrant flowers alongside the porch with her remix of #103. Tri Angle’s and Quantum Natives’ very own renegade Brood Ma does all the necessary plumbing duties, rinsing the sludge out of the pipes with a gloomy remix of #88. The TT and All Centre London based representative Harry Murdoch alias hmurd handles final rearrangements of the space, reading the property for a wild house-warming gathering.
