Program Note
kühl blau was created in the summer of 2007 in my apartment in Berlin's Chamisso Kietz. For a while I brooded over the composition daily, patiently waiting for ideas. If you wait long enough, any ideas will eventually pop up. If you wait even longer, you finally decide for something; this will give you the next idea, and so on. This may well be a workable method for developing a composition, almost like a solo improvisation in slow motion. At the end of this process was the present piece.
Maybe the atmosphere and mood at my place has influenced the creative process (kiosk, children's playground, café, little cars, swifts, organic market on weekends). The piece is meant to express a more loose, relaxed, almost casual, playful way.
