Making space for sound works one might initially consider unfinished, ephemeral, imperfect, mundane, or trivial, Les Archives de la Médiocrité aims at celebrating the leftovers of the artistic process: throw-outs, failures, and untracked sketches. Forgotten treasures, brought back to life from out-of-use hard drives, SD cards, or magnetic tape, as well as newly commissioned works, form an (anti-)archive that sheds light on what most commonly remains unheard and unappreciated.

Präsens Editionen was founded in 2011 to give home to zweikommasieben Magazin. Ever since a bunch of magazines, books, zines, records, tapes and oddities have been published.

zweikommasieben is a Swiss magazine that has been devoted to the documentation of contemporary music and sounds since the summer of 2011. The magazine features artist interviews, essays and columns as well as photography, illustration and graphics. In addition zweikommasieben curates and organizes a variety of events—for example Ebbing Sounds, a symposium that initially was held in the summer of 2018 in San Francisco, or the biennial London-based festival Oto Nove Swiss.

May35 alias Pablo Stettler is a Swiss/Danish multimedia artist and curator based in Bienne, Switzerland. He is running art spaces (m35 / Orange) and works as an art supervisor. He is experimenting with found footage, field recordings and spoken word.

Listening to Pablo Stettler’s Radio sets feels like sitting on a train, hovering through a dry, springlike landscape at the opening of a not so dramatic movie. There are no characters in the picture, there are just weather conditions – staging mostly wildlife, with brutal concrete highways pushing through. Are there flowers in the Tundra? Yes, there are – and flocks of birds, trees, bushes streaking the edge of your camera. Pablo Stettler will play ambient sounds, field recordings and ripped clips selected from the World Wide Web. 

He says he’s featuring the sounds of our homes, suburbs, cities and gardens. And it’s much more than that. His music adds a sublime layer to the everyday. His sounds set a specific mood: They feel like someone is looking at the world and their surroundings with a very tender gaze. An invitation to board a train for a trip through the countryside, or adjust the settings of your camera for your next documentary.
