Planet Mu is a label that has always survived on its own very independent terms. For 20 years it's existed both on the fringes and in the centre of emerging electronic music, from IDM and breakcore to dubstep and grime and lately to footwork, which it took a chance on, opening it up to the world through the two Bangs & Works compilations. It also has a strong history of connecting the dots in between those genres by supporting idiosyncratic artists, from label stalwart Venetian Snares to Kuedo, Machinedrum, Boxcutter, Vex'd, Falty DL, Luke Vibert, Ital, Jlin and Mr. Mitch to name just a few.

Run by Mike Paradinas, who under the name µ-Ziq was one of the first wave of producers pushing the musical envelope in the wake of house and techno's initial burst of inspiration, Planet Mu is an established engine of creativity and enquiry, with one foot in the pop world, and a sense of fun that never lets its experimentation disappear into exclusivity and snobbery.  

To celebrate their 20th Anniversary, Planet Mu have organised a 50-track, triple CD compilation of both old and new unreleased tracks and remixes packaged in a deluxe dvd-style boxset complete with a 110 page book charting the history of the label, with insight from artists and staff, written by electronic music writer Rory Gibb. 

The music on CDs one and two is mainly from the current decade, with contributions from Kuedo, Machinedrum, John Wizards, Ital Tek, Remarc, Boxcutter, RP Boo, John T. Gast, Jlin and new signing Herva to name but a few. They're colourful, broad and adventurous rides across the roster that will impress and excite any fan of electronic music and are a strong reminder of the consistent quality and broad mindedness of the label too. 

CD three features more of the older guard, dipping back into the roster from the late nineties and early 2000s with a range of noisier, knottier contributions from artists including Jega, Neil Landstrumm, Speedy J, Shitmat, Leafcutter John, Hellfish, Datach'i and Hrvatski, it's the perfect compilation for hardcore fans and a brilliant and friendly introduction to the label for curious newcomers too.

7th Storey Projects is immensely honoured to present a new, limited edition collaboration EP from two Dutch masters, FFF & Coco Bryce - Double Dragon EP.

FFF (Myor Massiv, Criterion Records, Diamond Life) needs no introduction as he has been blazing a trail on the jungle and breakcore scene for nearly 20 years now - so we are truly honoured to add him to our roster of talent.  Here he contributes both tracks to the A side of the EP, the dark, amenistic roller 'The Return', and the epic 'Krisp Biscuit'.

The B side sees a welcome return to 7th Storey Projects for Myor Massiv head honcho, Coco Bryce. After the success of his limited 10" press - Raid/JBB on the label earlier this year - here he teams up with FFF for their first true collaborative, co-produced track to see vinyl - 'Double Dragon'.  One word sums this track up - DARK!  Full of horror film samples, butchers block beats and menancing hoovers!  The EP is rounded up with Coco Bryce's solo track 'The Mother Goddess', a tune which has been doing the rounds on dubplate for a while and built up a firm favourite status with those that know! 

Pressed at Optimal:Media in Germany, and mastered to the usual perfection by the legendary Beau Thomas at Ten Eight Seven Mastering - as always, top quality is assured!

Welcome back DJ Krome & Mr Time! Vinyl Fanatiks followers will have seen the represses from their much respected mid 90’s Tearin Vinyl jungle imprint recently as well as the sought after collab they did with fellow Hackney boy Ellis Dee, originally released in 1993 and repressed in 2019.

Missing is also a Hackney boy and was signed to Tearin Vinyl when he was just a teenager, back in the mid 90’s. Over the past few years he has rekindled his friendship with Bernie, aka Mr Time, which Missing expands upon - “Me and Bernie had lost touch for years and despite both living near one another in Hackney, we hadn’t even bumped into each other - such is London life! So I got in touch once I started producing jungle again and we went to a few nights at Soul In Motion when it was in Shoreditch and talked about getting into the studio again. Finally we did in 2019 and made the track ‘Original 90s’ which we signed to Hospital, appearing on the Sick Music 2020 complication. With the vibes flowing we went back in the studio and made ‘Tings A Run’, which brought together our 90’s roots on a fresh soundclash. I look forward to continuing our adventures in the studio together over the coming years”.

The flip side - ‘X Amount Of Dubs’ - Missing helps cement the Sub System Sound; Bouncy ragga riddims, sound tape MC liks and heavy, melodic bassline’s set over unmistakably jungle breakbeats. Missing adds “This track again was made as a dub as I love to road test tracks before making plans for them. Foul Play dropped it at Jungle Jam and it tore the place down, so it makes the perfect flipside to the Mr Time collab”.

Travelling through this underwater world he wondered whether he might ever reach the surface and see the daylight again. There was nothing but a deep radiant ocean of blue all around him and as he looked onwards as to where he would swim there was little sign that he might ever reach the shore. Bubbles and ripples moved all around him and as he swam across the ocean floor he stroked his fingers through the grains of sand which solidified the bottom of the sea. It was vast and ever present, the deep blue.
