WHODEM001 WhoDemSound - A. Lazy Dub / B. Anxious Dub 10'' Vinyl (Out Now)

Comme un tournant dans une recherche de sonorités et d’ambiances plus sombres et viscérales, ce nouvel EP est l’introduction du prochain album "let the ghost sing" d'Al'Tarba (2nd semestre 2014). 
Les titres The Sleeping Camp et Dusty Signal présentent des atmosphères fantomatiques, qui hanteront le futur album du toulousain. 
Avec ses chants brumeux et oniriques, The Sleeping Camp renvoi au monde des gitans et à celui de la magie. Références qui se retrouvent aux travers des guitares et synthétiseurs entêtants sur le titre Dusty Signal  . Avec cet EP Al’Tarba incante les fantômes qui se réveilleront sur le futur album. 
Le titre inédit Hé Garçon fait hommage à la collaboration entamée avec DJ Nix’On depuis un an en live. En effet ce dernier apporte ses scratchs qui ont pour effet de dynamiser le titre et lui offre une saveur estivale. 
Mais Al’Tarba n’oublie pas ses premiers amours, le featuring avec DJ Platoon revient sur les bases d’un hip-hop rugueux et hardcore avec des flows qui font violence. 


Cet EP annonce également la sortie de deux clips qui seront dans l’esprit général développé par Al’Tarba au cours des 4 titres

C'est du côté du Japon que vous entraine le label Culture Dub Records pour sa 73ème release en Free Download avec une production made in Tokyo signée Mizuki Akutsu, aka Hummingbird, un pur stepper dynamique sur lequel le chanteur Ras Solo originaire du Mozambique vient louer Jah Rastafari pour de meilleurs lendemains, suivi d'une version Dub taillée pour les Sound Systems puissants... Du Dub mais bien plus encore, une preuve que le mélange est une richesse, qu’il soit musical ou humain !

C’est bien dans le Dub des origines et dans ses techniques de studio que Mizuki Akutsu puise son inspiration pour son projet solo Hummingbird ! Chercheur de son, avec la soif de l’expérimentation, le producteur japonais participe à plusieurs projets du côté de Tokyo au Japon. Il est illustrateur sonore dans le Duo Pers avec Kai Mike et participe entre autres au projet Wardrobes : « Musique x Mode x Culture » !

Mizuki Akutsu délivre des productions avec une touche bien à lui, une touche « Tokyo-style » ! Ses compositions sont à coup sur à base de Dub mais il les fait évoluer dans des contrées Electro Bass Music, percutantes et militantes, tels sa série "Blind For Dub" débuté en 2018 produit sous le nom Hummingbird ! Le producteur Tokyoïte emmène notre style de prédilection vers de nouveaux horizons, décomplexé, armé d’une expérience et d’un talent certain...

Originaire de Maputo au Mozambique mais habitant du côté du Brésil, Ras Soto, petit génie du mic, signe son premier titre à l’age de 9 ans avant de se dévouer à la cause Rasta et de louer Jah sur des versions Reggae, Dancehall, Raggamuffin ou Dub... Artiste versatile, chantant en différentes langues, il a produit plusieurs albums avant de sortir des chansons aux côtés de Hummingbird ou sur le label Fat Bird Recordings entres autres !

C'était il y a 2 ans maintenant, Tomek & Łukasz m'invitaient à jouer à leur 3eme édition du big festival Dub'n'Bass (qui se passe ce week-end au passage) et on en a profité pour se faire une session studio avec un de leurs potes Omar qui nous a record un vocal et un peu de guitare. 
C'était un pur moment d'échange et de rigolade, ça me tenait à cœur de sortir cette co-prod !!!

Following the successful ‘Better Life’, the fifth vinyl 10’’ by Culture Dub Records released in 2015, this tune was composed by Mexican Stepper and written by Sista Bethsabée. This new album is composed of enhanced versions by four artists from the international Dub scene!

Four remixed singing versions with their Dub version made by the duo Roots Raid with Dubdadda at the mic, the French dubmaker Mr Zebre, Antxon Sagardui from the CrudoBilbao Basque label, and the Hungarian Du3normal.

This sixth digital release of Culture Dub Records is dedicated to all Sound Systems, and will be available on Thursday, May 4th 2017 for free download on Culture Dub’s Bandcamp and on the famous netlabel ODGProd…

Près de 20 ans passés aux cotés de ses camarades d’ High Tone, d’innombrables concerts - de Pékin à Vancouver - et quelques 20 disques au compteur lui en ont fait voir de toutes les couleurs !
En 2009 il lance le projet DUB INVADERS dédié à la culture SOUND SYSTEM et commence à produire des titres sous le nom «Natural High Dubs».
Dès lors, il effectue de nombreuses dates avec le collectif Dub Invaders et se produit aux cotés d’O.B.F, Blackboard Jungle, Dub Addict, Dawa Hi fi...
Son univers musical fortement inspiré par la scène UK dub, se caractérise par un son brut et minimal et c’est en live act sur un bon vieux sound system que sa musique prend tout son sens. Au gré des soirées, il triture et remix ses propres compositions au commande d’une console 10 pistes.

Larry McDonald : Congas | Troy Simms : Sax | Emch : Riddim, Melodica, Dub Mixing & Effects | Recorded at Subatomic Sound in NYC & LA by Emch & The Bridge in Brooklyn by Amon |  Produced, Mixed, & Mastered by Emch at Subatomic Sound (ASCAP Lost Connection Music) | Shaolin Dub was written and recorded by Subatomic Sound System in the downtime during the pre-production of the "Super Ape Returns To Conquer" album with Lee "Scratch" Perry and inspired by the mostly instrumental African jazz influenced dub reggae on the original "Super Ape" album, but re-contextualized in a Subatomic production environment that includes both analog and digital recording & mixing technology. Percussion legend Larry McDonald worked with Count Ossie back during the inception of reggae and Nyabinghi drumming in the late 1960s, and that culmination of musical influences and spirituality was also in our ears and our minds at this time. The song brings together stylistic elements of current electronic music with foundation African rhythms, dub reggae, and Ethiopian jazz, balanced differently across the mixes on the release. Additional live instrument recording was done in Brooklyn at the Bridge Studio and is documented in the EMC educational video with Subatomic Sound System on live dub mixing. "Shaolin Dub" has been performed live throughout the 2017-2019 tours but never released until now.
