Meerkat is the solo project of Mark Ahessy, an artist born and raised in Southern Ireland. Mark's journey into the Irish psychedelic scene began behind the scenes, promoting events across the country. His deep passion for psychedelic music quickly evolved into a more creative path, leading to the birth of the Meerkat project.
Initially launched as a DJ project, it wasn’t long before Mark was drawn to music production. Fueled by curiosity and creativity, he began crafting his own unique blend of psychedelic sounds—ranging from psy-tech and psygressive to dark progressive.
Over the years, Meerkat has released a number of well-received EPs and tracks on respected labels such as Jaira Records, Padang, Occulta, Zenon, Katayy, Universal Tribe, and most recently, his debut album on Alpaka Muzik.
His music has taken him to stages around the globe, with performances at festivals like Lost Theory, Sunshine, Arkana, Solstice, and many more.
In addition to his work as a producer and performer, Mark is also the founder of Enter Mushroom—a new festival in Ireland dedicated to Psy-Tech, Psygressive, and Dark Prog. The event reflects his commitment to pushing boundaries and building community within the psychedelic music scene.
