When Stephen Hitchell released The Seduction of Silence in 2009 under his Intrusion alias, the double-CD immediately established itself as a landmark in the dub techno continuum. Across deep, glacial chords, cavernous bass and hypnotic atmospheres, Hitchell expanded the Berlin/Detroit lineage into something spiritual and introspective – a meditative art form rooted in emotion, texture and stillness rather than club-function alone.

Sixteen years on, The Seduction of Silence returns in its most definitive form, with both Part 1 and Part 2 now finally available on vinyl for the first time. Remastered and cut by Stefan Betke (POLE), the records unlock new depth and dimensionality, offering a fully immersive experience for both longstanding admirers and new listeners.

Part 1 traces the genesis of Intrusion, sparked by Hitchell’s rediscovery of a Sequential Circuits Prophet 2000 sampler containing fragments of his ’90s experiments. Revived during a period of transition – long hours in record distribution, a move to Chicago’s lakeside, impending fatherhood – those sounds became the foundation for weighty yet introspective dub, heard vividly in Montego Bay and Intrusion Dub.

Part 2 carries a more expansive, improvisational feel, influenced by the late Phillip C. Hertz, Hitchell’s colleague at Crosstalk Distribution. Recorded through live jams and experimental sessions, this chapter drifts into deeper ambient-dub territory, paying tribute to collaboration, community and the fluidity of sound.

Together, both parts form a deeply personal document of life, art and devotion to sound. Alongside this feature, Hitchell shares a live recording from his New York debut at Public Records in July 2025, hosted by Zen/Echo – an intimate Intrusion performance in full analog drift.

A natural homecoming for one of our favourite artists, we are proud to present the second album from Zero T on Dispatch Recordings; ‘Little Pieces’. 

Neatly forming over the past year, ‘Little Pieces’ marries all aspects of the Irishman’s diverse, accomplished sound, progressing from the elegant piano foray ‘Fortune Favours’ to amen strewn tech stepper ‘Dying Breed’, filling all the gaps in between. 

Collaborations with Beta 2 & Villem are backed by vocal features from DRS, Stamina and Steo; whose lyrics provided the album’s core inspiration on the stunning title track, supported by Friction (on BBC Radio 1) and DJ Hype (Kiss FM). 

Following his acclaimed 2015 album ‘Golden Section’, Zero T continues his thematic, visual imagery; the album artwork reflecting the mosaic of his influences from over the years, carefully reconstructed into a cohesive body of work.

A true demonstration of his artistry, Zero T encapsulates everything we love about this genre in ‘Little Pieces’.

Next up from Sofa Sound is the forthcoming collaborations from drum & bass heavyweights DLR, Break, Randall and Ulterior Motive, a collective who’ve all helped to pioneer the genre whilst staying inherently underground. Whilst Break and Randall have laid its foundations, producers like DLR and Ulterior Motive have shaped the more contemporary scene, although both tracks signify the colossal engineering standards of each featuring artist. The established names also bring their weight to Sofa Sound’s back catalogue, which has expanded since its creation by DLR in 2017. 

DLR, Break and Randall come together for lead track ‘Song & Dance’, an old-school reminiscent roller with snipped up, mc-lead vocal samples and jazzy instrumentals. The energy between all three artists is instantly recognisable, with Randall’s old-school approach shining through each layer. On top of strung guitar notes and a hook which nods to its namesake, ‘Song & Dance’ blends a mixture of styles to present a versatile addition to Sofa Sound.

Next comes ‘Modules’, featuring a combination of sonics recorded through Ulterior Motive’s modular set up. The ruminating drums and basses brought from the collections of their collaborators deliver its funkier elements, with the bassline fluctuating between notes and twisting its way through a melodic undertow. Alongside its unusual structure, the track’s organic approach and frequent switches grab its listener unaware. Another imperative release on Sofa Sound, the imprint has shown its commitment to artists from across the spectrum, through both its digital releases and physical discography additions.
