Taking this one back to the Era Of Diversion days, here's our perennial classic "Dead On Arrival."  

This tune was a tribute of sorts to the webforum http://dogsonacid.com, which played a big part in the drum and bass scene for many years. For those of you who are too young to know about it: Dogs On Acid was a webforum geared towards drum and bass, but ended up more like an information clearing-house and a place where people often acted like pricks under the internet's glorious anonymity, much like many now do on YouTube/Facebook/Reddit.

The dissonant thrum of opposed antigravity fields ripped through the nighttime skyline as a retrofitted RP-19 Levette drifted past the 322nd-story windows of a corp tower, its fusion engine expelling an intense burst of helium gas that drifted quickly into the harvesting drones hovering above the airway. Nipping at its tail came a squadron of automated enforcer skiffs in 3-point formation that moved in perfect synchronization to block any possibility of backward escape by the target they pursued. As the chase opened up into a straightaway, the enforcer skiffs unleashed a barrage from their tuned resonance armaments, specifically designed to utilize the antigravity frequencies of the megacities’ airways to lock a pursued vehicle in gravitic stasis for ease of capture.

Sensing this imminent outcome, the pilot of the Levette prepared himself for a most dangerous maneuver requiring phase-perfect timing, in which failure meant an instantly fatal flattening at the hands of rapid gravitic deceleration As the first of the resonance pulses impacted the frame of his vehicle he disabled its antigravity buffer entirely, an action of momentary duration that seemed to stretch out into eternity. The walls of the city’s superstructures warped their shape beside him as an infinitesimal instant of hypergravity bent light around the frame of his vehicle before subsuming him in total darkness. Then, a blinding flash of light sent him skidding out above the vast desert wasteland surrounding the megalopolis that had been his home. As he came slowly to a halt over 30 seconds and 300 kilometers from his entry point, the pilot breathed a sigh of relief. A successful gravitic warp was something most perished attempting, and his had borne him his freedom in his escape from THE CHASE.

REDPILL returns to EATBRAIN after his debut album on the mighty BLACKOUT, with a helping of lightspeed sonics for the eager ears of the label’s horde, who have long awaited another dose of the artist’s cinematic and scientifically toned tracks. Within THE CHASE, REDPILL’s latest creations unleash their addictive energy at a breakneck pace, leaving listeners awestruck in the wake of the EP’s unrelenting charge.

We've always had a feeling we were not quite as alone in this world as it might seem at first. We didn't expect our suspicions to be confirmed so soon though. No more hypothetical scenarios, no more What Ifs, this was it. The moment of ARRIVAL had come. 7 billion people watched in awe as this gigantic ship, if you can even call it that, descended unto our humble blue marble. This was not the time for petty squabbles amongst ourselves, this was a historic moment for all of humanity. Would we be able to communicate with them? How do they look like? Were they even coming in peace?
For a moment, everything was so silent you could have heard a pin drop. Do we approach them? Should we wait for them to come out of their ship? Should we - before we could even finish that thought, a pulse of pure energy BASHes into the crowds surrounding the vessel, obliterating them all. Hordes of unspeakably strange creatures rushed out from the spacecraft and fell over the remaining smaller groups near the landing point.
For us, this was the absolute worst case scenario. Military organisations from all over the world banded together in an attempt to stop the invasion, but, alas, it was no use. We could hold the creatures off for a bit, but none of the guns, bombs or other weapons we had developed worked even the tiniest bit against their ships. No matter what we tried, we were simply GOING NOWHERE.
Even though the initial attack didn't wipe us out completely, we had an even bigger problem, as we soon realised. The numerous landing sites were covered in some kind of shimmery dome. Everyone and everything that spent time inside this area began to change from within. Plants took on human form, animals merged together, trees became crystalline. The very basis_ of our existence, our DNA, was being rewritten by this shimmer. Soon it became clear to us: The domes were expanding. We cannot simply sit this one out, ANNIHILATION of life as we knew it is imminent.

Based out of Linz, north Austria, Martin Schober is a singular protagonist at the forefront of this beguiling game we call drum & bass. He likes hip-hop, skateboarding, schnitzel, Leibniz biscuits and long walks in the sunset, but he’s most respected for how he traipses across electronic music’s wildest terrains with total boundary abandonment… And is regarded as a leading influential new-gen figure in the genre. 

From his agenda-setting halftime twist of ‘Sunday Crunk’ to his rolling, emotional collabo cameo on Camo & Krooked’s acclaimed album ‘Mosaik’. From his entrance into the Fabriclive mix hall of fame with a mix album comprising entirely of his own productions (‘Fabriclive 95’) to his Drum&BassArena Award-winning debut album ‘Emulation’, Mefjus’s signature sound has been felt across the furthest expanses of the genre since he emerged in the early 2010s. 

Now working closely with Vision - the label run by kindred studio spirits Noisia - Mefjus continues to fine-tune his musical syntax, technical dexterity, eye for detail and deft groove sensibilities. The latest chapter to savour this on-going flux of development is his second album ‘Manifest’.

Released April 2018, ‘Manifest’ is the sound of Mefjus 2.0. After several years in the studio wilderness, exploring the dark science of song structure, musicality and textural contrasts, ‘Manifest’ captures a new mindset for Mefjus. Raw, energetic, playful and subversive, ‘Manifest’ is the most personal, diverse and daring body of work to date. Not so much as reminder of why he occupies such a unique position in drum & bass but a straight-up statement of intent.
