Zeds Dead's Altered States Summer Mix

"Cut the Line is the latest EP by producer Dead Battery on Kannibalen Records. The young Austrian has been on a tear lately, releasing original tracks and remixes at a breakneck pace over the course of 2013. With Cut the Line, he keeps his foot firmly on the pedal, churning out three new originals that should cement his place as a name to watch in the world of electronic music. The title track of the EP is a massive dubstep anthem in the style that Dead Battery has perfected: uplifting synth buildups, soaring vocals by the talented Lea Santee and vicious bass lines, all held neatly together by a keen sense of melody. For Lost I and Lost II, Dead Battery has teamed up with fellow Kannibalen producer Dabin. The two have remixed each other several times with great results, and their first official collaboration is no different. Lost I is an epic track that pulls musical cues from everything from deep dubstep to classic house; the melody is reworked into a chilled-out electronica version in Lost II. The EP also features two remixes of Cut the Line by a pair of promising Austrian dance acts. Naked Fishs take is solid, dancefloor-friendly electro house. Newcomer Nemea, for his first ever release, pops out a punishing drum n bass version perfect for early morning warehouse raves."

Mind Vortex return… And they’re packing some serious heat. Following the huge success of ‘Alive’ and ‘Arc’ earlier this year, here we find the duo presenting two of their most demonstratively dark, powerhouse pieces to date. Prepare to be blown away… 

‘Gravity’ is built up around a sharp, spiky riff that punches its way up and down the scale. Icy, hair-raising and galvanised with a genuine sense of urgency and danger, you can file this one under ‘concentrated undiluted dancefloor business’. 

Driven by heavyweight kicks and an obese bass groove, there’s no escaping its natural forces. Just like gravity itself. Trust us: Newton would be pulling some serious bass faces if he knew his theory had influenced this tearing slab of audio attitude. 

From attitude to altitude, ‘Catapult’ flings you into outer space the second you hear its purring metallic intro while snippets of vocals tease and please throughout. Then, without any warning whatsoever, an enormous synth riff ignites. Sawing through the mix with the power of an industrial timber mill, it winds up and up and up with raw audio insanity. Dropping into the duo’s most intense, muscular bass riffs to date, ‘Catapult’ is nagging, hooky and charged with the perfect amount of tech tenacity. Bona fide bass dynamite, if you’ve caught Andy C playing any time in the last few months, you’ll be well aware of its outrageous dancefloor effect. Truly massive. 

Two incredible pieces of underground drum & bass, two more reasons to keep your ears locked into Mind Vortex. This really is a very special release.

The duo’s first single from their new album has already been supported by Zane Lowe, Annie Mac, Trevor Nelson and many more of the world’s leading tastemakers, and ‘All Or Nothing’ looks set to catapult this incredible production partnership to all new heights. 

Calyx & TeeBee’s debut album ‘Anatomy’, released in 2007 on their own label was an instant game changer; cited as a landmark album for the scene ‘Anatomy’ saw the duo unleash an almighty wall of sound that rocked dance floors across the globe as they took to the road with their 6 deck DJ sets, smashing apart sound systems in nightclubs and festival tents alike.

Having caused endless rewinds across the globe, Noise Of Thunder is just one of four heavyweight floor-fillers from the London-based label boss. From sonic booms to explosive rumbles, this EP exceeds the 1.21 gigawatts power warning thunder usually comes with.

Kicking off with the flagship fire starter, Noise Of Thunder opens with classic haunting synths that echo out into the ether, hinting the true essence of darkness that's set to follow. Sequenz is the second single from Neosignal’s debut album ‘Raum und Zeit’ which was released in June '13 and follows ‘Planet Online’, the track and accompanying video that became a viral hit, with coverage from Vimeo (Staff Pick), The Guardian, Buzzfeed, The Sun Online, Vibe, UKF and beyond.

‘Sequenz’ has been a mainstay for Neosignal’s live show, exemplified via performances at Fabric, Urban Art Forms Festival Graz/AU, Dockville Festival Hamburg/DE, BASSart Festival in Munich/DE, Melkweg Amsterdam/NL and beyond, and recently featured in the official PlayStation 4 ‘Best Games Trailer’ at Gamescom. In addition to remixes from Mefjus, Jan Driver and 12th Planet, ‘Sequenz’ is accompanied by another original track, ‘Dernier Cri’.

Based out of Linz, north Austria, Martin Schober is a singular protagonist at the forefront of this beguiling game we call drum & bass. He likes hip-hop, skateboarding, schnitzel, Leibniz biscuits and long walks in the sunset, but he’s most respected for how he traipses across electronic music’s wildest terrains with total boundary abandonment… And is regarded as a leading influential new-gen figure in the genre. 

From his agenda-setting halftime twist of ‘Sunday Crunk’ to his rolling, emotional collabo cameo on Camo & Krooked’s acclaimed album ‘Mosaik’. From his entrance into the Fabriclive mix hall of fame with a mix album comprising entirely of his own productions (‘Fabriclive 95’) to his Drum&BassArena Award-winning debut album ‘Emulation’, Mefjus’s signature sound has been felt across the furthest expanses of the genre since he emerged in the early 2010s. 

Now working closely with Vision - the label run by kindred studio spirits Noisia - Mefjus continues to fine-tune his musical syntax, technical dexterity, eye for detail and deft groove sensibilities. The latest chapter to savour this on-going flux of development is his second album ‘Manifest’.

Released April 2018, ‘Manifest’ is the sound of Mefjus 2.0. After several years in the studio wilderness, exploring the dark science of song structure, musicality and textural contrasts, ‘Manifest’ captures a new mindset for Mefjus. Raw, energetic, playful and subversive, ‘Manifest’ is the most personal, diverse and daring body of work to date. Not so much as reminder of why he occupies such a unique position in drum & bass but a straight-up statement of intent.
