“Dance-Floor-Facilitators", that's how front-man Andrew Glass describes the upbeat conduct & energetic attitude of Nashville pop R&B outfit, Marquee Mayfield. “We keep the party moving,” says Glass.  It's a new form of funk, with a flair of fetish for the past.  "Who doesn't love those classic theater marquees with the big bright bubble lights? I've always been inspired by Curtis Mayfield and I love alliterations," says Glass, about the creation of the group’s name.   While there's no one named Marquee or Mayfield in the band, there's a traveling cast of 8-10 flooding the stage with Glass, creating those overdoses of soulful melodies mixed with funk-frenzied grooves and disco dance-floor inspired themes. 

In the songs, you hear a modern mind, richly versed in the old school of soul and smitten by the large R&B/funk acts & pop-disco productions of the 70s & 80s. While still paying homage to the legends of the genres they hold so dear, Marquee Mayfield showcases the evolution of a group that has found their own unique voice. From the heartfelt, blue-eyed soul croonings, to the luscious horn lines & silky-smooth bass riffs, you can hear Glass & his crew of funkster-romantics channeling their love for an era gone by with a contagious spirit that catches you and proves relevant for today. Glass summarizes, "You should feel something. This music should move you - both physically & emotionally."

Joywave has proved prolific and popular on the road, performing countless headline dates, show-stealing sets at international festivals spanning Lollapalooza, Coachella, Bumbershoot, and the UK’s Reading/Leeds, and support runs with such like-minded artists as The Killers, Young the Giant, Cold War Kids, Walk the Moon, Bleachers, Smashing Pumpkins, Foals, Silversun Pickups, Brandon Flowers, Thirty Seconds To Mars, and more. As if that weren’t enough, Joywave have put equivalent energy into creating visual and other components, supplementing their music with similarly inventive videos and YouTube series like Joy Meets World and Coffee With Joywave, the latter showcasing their own Rochester-roasted Joywave coffee brand.

2023 has been a very busy year for NJ alt-rockers – The Break Plans – and they are in no way ready to slow down. Signed by Sentric Music Group and chosen as a brand ambassador for Slate Digital’s new wireless mic series, the group also participated in three music festival lineups: Launch, North To Shore, and one of the headlining sets at Musikfest. A particular highlight has been watching their single “Fashionably Late” park itself in the top 40 of iHeart’s and Mediabase’s Adult Contemporary Charts for 12 weeks and counting!  

  

Backing it up to 2019 when it all started ... The Break Plans emerged on the scene with a modern-day formula of 80’s-influenced, pop-rock tunes showcasing a variety of styles. From polished pop to anthemic choruses to tender ballads ... the group has honed in on a signature sound with mass appeal. Listeners have described their music as “the perfect coming of age soundtrack to my life;” “music that’s great for road trips with the windows rolled down;” and “anthemic, motivating, positive music.”  

  

The band formed when guitarist Mikey Strawz was searching for bandmates and randomly found vocalist/keyboardist Colton Braun through a Craigslist ad. Their fast friendship and unmistakable songwriting synergy quickly resulted in a barrage of singles, each layered with classic pop choruses, punk rock flair, and melodic harmonies. Drummer Dan Carr joined shortly thereafter perfectly completing the trio.  

  

Having worked with accomplished producers Carl Bahner (The Wombats) and Rob Chiarappa (Gray Scale, Jake Miller), The Break Plans are now collaborating with Nashville producer Corey Mouch and taking a more active role in the production process of their music. “We found our groove in writing songs together and are now taking chances and trying things we haven’t done before,” said Strawz and Braun. “The music we’re recording now is the best we’ve ever done, and we cannot wait to release it for our listeners!”  

  

The Break Plans have performed in New Jersey, New York City, Pennsylvania, and Los Angeles hitting venues such as the legendary Stone Pony, Hard Rock – Atlantic City, Wonder Bar, Arlene’s Grocery, Rockwood Music Hall, Bowery Electric, The Grape Room, and Hotel Café LA, to name just a few. Currently, the band is in the studio wrapping up production on new music to complete their debut album.
