After the highly recognized first edition of the "Japanology EP" it was time to join forces again and combine the powers of the far east with the futuristic high-techno-delic style of the madman himself. 

The result is a three track EP, meticulously crafted with love down to the smallest detail and with passion for high quality Psytrance. Each one of them will take you on a turbulent ride through hyperspace in its unique way and won't let your feet stand still. 

The opener "Activate" is exactly what it promises to be, a real fire-starter that will kick off any party or session at home. A very strong uplifting groove supported by Mirok's magical melody work climaxing towards total ecstasy. 

"Don't break your time" is an example of what happens when Cylon enters the studio and unleashes his organic old school vibes paired with a funky attitude. Rock solid bass lines and all sorts of groovy sounds are paving the way for a powerful ending.

Last but not least the EP is closing with "We are waves". In collaboration with wild Masaya a.k.a. Spectra Sonics this became an ever-peaking beast that never seems to come down. Razor-sharp acid sounds slice their way through a fresh break and lead to a madness that leaves behind nothing but brain salad.

In the 15th edition of Grasshopper Records's series we introduce DJ Masaysa`s project SPECTRA SONICS.

With his serious middle groove style, and amazing live sets, Spectra Sonics is well renowned within the Japanese trance scene as a top middle groove psy-trance artist. In 2010 he joined Grasshopper Records, but until then he had had many offers and requests for music by labels in Japan, such as Wakyo Records and Grasshopper Recs. He has also had offers from European labels such as 24/7Records and Mutagen Records and many more.
His 1st album “Sentimental” is out in March 2015.
Spectra Sonics is well expected to be a leading next generation artist.

Hidden Empire and Channel X go back to back productionwise and set off a joint release with 6 original dancefloorready compositions. Apocalyptic vocals proclaim (This is) 'Not the End' in the analogously entitled track, triggering the release on a dynamic and fast paced tone. With a playful groove laden with descending synths, the piece buzzes along on a backdrop of alternating noise leads.
'Dinosaurs in Space' evokes a far away land through cavernous soundscapes and metallic rattles, ranking as the series’ most spacious sounding cut. Pairing mechanical subsynths with high pitched bits and blobs, 'Elephants & Ants' plays on contrasting elements as the murky melody unfolds in a steadfast fashion. After mainly focusing on their live performance.

Channel X return to the studio to dole out a matching set of three aptly crafted arrangements. An amalgamation of shadowy soundframes make up 'Before Midnight', a deep tech exploration complemented by matchingly eerie vocals.
Spirited synths and a boiling bassline are the central tenets of 'Lift off', as the melody rolls out gradually. 'Waves' brings together slices of undulating synths and wobbly sound articulations, all in an upwinding manner. With a groovy vocal sample, the track deftly morphs into a movementinducing frenzy.

Megapixel discovered electronic dance music in Western Australia where she was first introduced to psytrance in 2006. She immediately fell in love with the music and culture. She has always had a strong connection to music from a very young age playing the piano, flute and guitar so it was very natural for her to make the progression to DJing and immerse herself in this world. Megapixel played her first set in 2008 quickly becoming a dance floor favourite in Perth. She dedicated many hours developing her skills and started to hold events of her own. In 2011 she wanted to explore this further and made the move to Melbourne where she continued to grow.

Now after 17 years since her debut, Megapixel has established herself as a solid edition to any line up. She has played at some of the biggest dance floors in Australia at Rainbow Serpent Festival, Esoteric Festival, Earthcore Festival, Babylon Festival, Paradigm Festival, Earth Frequency Festival, Elements Festival, Wild Horses Festival, Dragon Dreaming Festival, just to name a few. With hard work and determination driving her forward she also gained popularity over seas playing main stage at Boom Festival in Portugal, Ozora Festival in Hungary, Sunshine Gathering in Japan, Gentenkaiki Festival in Japan, AgeHA in Japan and Dimension Festival in New Zealand.

Megapixel has become one of the most known and recognised Australian DJs in the global psytrance community. Her ability to mix her energetic style with the Japanese middle groove sound didn’t go unnoticed signing to Grasshopper Records in 2015. Preferring to keep her sets versatile she can be heard laying down funky and fun sets for the daytime, or a more serious, groovy and solid sound for the night time setting. With her passion and skill for DJing, she continues to make an impact and you can expect her floor shaking sets to take you on a captivating journey every time.
