Hailing from the Latvian capital city of Riga, electronic brothers in arms Queer On Acid have been fervent dance music devotees since the 1990s.  Born out of the LGBTQ community of which they belong to, the duo has had an impressive ascendency over the last couple of years that has included releases for Josh Wink’s Ovum Recordings, Shadow Child’s Takeout imprint, collaborating with original house vocalist & artist Robert Owens, and maintaining their burgeoning Queer On Acid record label.
 
The ‘Short Cut’ EP is the latest fruits of their labour, released on Dense & Pika’s ever consistent Kneaded Pains label.  Lead track ‘Bob’ cuts up some gnarly lead lines with an ardent rhythm and drifting atmospherics, whilst ‘C Ex’ jacks out some crunchy funk over an industrious 909 beat as waves of elated pads wash in an old school flavour.  A hypnotising percussive house rhythm, not too dissimilar to the classic ‘House Of God’ by DHS, build the foundations of ‘Not The Time’, as a raw Chi-town groove is shaped and pulverized with a seductive vocal loop.

BUNK074 : New artist enters the Bunk Family. Welcome Sascha !!!

Sascha Bouché is from Hannover (Germany), producer and techno DJ.
He loves the synths of the 80s and the pumping techno! 
Already in 1998 he played as house DJ at 'Groove Planet', later with techno at 'H.de.M.', 'SoapClub' and then 'Liquid' and others.
His first release together with 'Andi de luxe' as 'Mezzomatic' in 2003 and some releases and remixes followed.
Sascha worked in Andi's record store and is the owner of Pong Recordings, which he brought back to life in 2020.

Sascha was not active for nine years because he was building his tattoo shop.

In 2020 Sascha's first techno releases came on Pure Dope Digital, Red Eclipse Recordings, DSR Digital and Disskghast Recordings, and in 2022, on UKR.

He's now a resident again, this time at 'KLUB PAN' in Hanover.

'House Music' : House Music is the namesake for my first E.P. on my beloved Bunkaball label. When I came up with the idea for this track, I always had to think of the classic of the same name by the great Eddie Amador. Haha. :)
For me, the Roland drums are always the center of attention.
The rest usually comes by itself. :)

'Work My Body' : Probably every Dj has a record with this title in his case. :)
You just can't go wrong with the vocals. Add a cool, driving groove, a pushing melody and stir hard, done!

'Get Up' : Pumping 909 rhythm with a very hypnotic chord line and the repeated request 'Get up!'. The melody swings back and forth and completely confuses you.
The sharp hihats push you forward and the clap hits you in the face.
So it must be on the dance floor! ;)

Alexander Kowalski is back on 'made of Concrete'! On his new EP, he refers the ambiance and smoked-out sounds of Dub techno on all four tracks, revealing his deep and quieter producer-self. 

The ‘Reference’ EP doesn’t try to reinvent something good. Instead, it evolves and expands on its theme and chosen genre. It carries Kowalski’s musical energy like water: from the introductory ‘Reference’ with its classic dub delays and ambient sounds, to the unhurried ‘Trawl JD’. The blows and strings of technoid ‘Deep Dive 990’ add drama and dancefloor tension - until it all washes ashore with sound on the beatless finale ‘Drifting Waves’. With this release, Kowalski once again shows his solid skills and the needlessness of proving anything to anyone.

Scottish DJ & producer Jay Gunning returns to Street Tracks with his second single for the label in as many months.  Influenced by the house and techno productions of Underground Resistance, Kerri Chandler and DJ Haus, Gunning has been firing out releases for the likes of Nervous Records and Jackie Knows Karate Records, and is swiftly laying his roots down with the Street Tracks label.

‘Da Funk’ is an acidic burner, animated percussion and a vivacious delivery earmark this one as a potential underground tracky smash!  A minimal techno vibe is set on ‘Be Right There’, as Gunning deploys rolling Plastikman-esque snares over the tracks clanging industrial feel, interspersed with rave tropes, which is no bad thing!

A duo making some serious noise of late, Latvian pairing Queer On Acid are on a roll following material on Dense & Pika's Kneaded Pains and an impressive remix of TERR and Daniel Watts on Clash Lion across recent months. Having made their first outing on Catz 'n Dogz's Steps Recordings at the start of summer, gaining support from the likes of Laurent Garnier, Tiga, DJ Bone, TEED, Truncate and Anja Schneider, they make a quick return with a trio of shady and heady house cuts across their 'Better Days' EP, backed by a powerful, up-front remix from recent Pets Recordings signee LUPE.
