Lauge is self-taught composer Henrik Laugesen, who is better known for his pseudonym ‘Lauge’. So far, he has been involved in the creation of 11 albums, participated on multiple compilations, sync placements and one patch bank for the Danish sound design outlet ‘Luftrum’. He also curates mixes and playlists for outlets like Spotify, under the brand ‘Ambient Soundscapes’.

Perry Frank is project started in 2005 by Francesco Perra from Sardinia, Italy. He is perhaps best renowned for his Ambient guitar sessions, in which live performances are filmed against backdrops of scenic landscapes, museums, gardens and verandas. He has also had releases out on labels such as Idealmusik, Tranquillo Records and n5MD.

We have seen great productivity through remote collaboration between musicians since the pandemic and in 2020, Henrik and Francesco began exchanging their sounds, files and ideas. They had the vision to combine their individual sound components into a cohesive whole. The result is ‘Selvascapes’, in which each composition is connected to forestry, reflected by the track titles and sonic content. The artists navigated their sound landscapes through this chosen theme; vastness, enormity, enclosure, open space and nature can all be gleaned by those who listen.

Violeta Vicci… a multifaceted, contemporary artist and musician of Catalan – Swiss descent, based in London, who feels equally comfortable genre-crossing from Classical to Improvisation, Ethno Avantgarde, Ambient, Multilayered Electronics, her influences ranging from traditional to pop. Violeta has collaborated with an eclectic array of artists such as Thom Yorke, Elbow, Jonsi (Sigur Rós) amongst others.

Mindspring Music Present: State Azure - Hex EP [MSM011]

State Azure makes his debut Mindspring appearance with a melodic & progressive release, with wonderfully glitchy elements and deep ambiance. Hex swirls with pads and twinkling keys, while its subterranean bass pulls you in, a very hypnotic and eveloving tune. Twin Shape is first up on remix duties, slowing things down and putting a Psychill spin on the original. Magnus is up next, raising the energy levels with his signature Psytrance style - never losing the gorgeous feel that Hex exudes. Transmission is on the B-Side and keeps the EP flowing in the same sort of channel. Much more on the glitchy side with its percussion and sweet little psychedelic stabs, it features the same sort of breathtaking swells and bright plucks. The atmosphere morphs and shimmers beautifully, while the low-end rolls ever forward. Condensspur has chosen to focus on the ambient elements of Transmission and created an elongated intro with wonderful additions, such as guitar, in his remix - A great bookend to this well crafted EP.

Through muted melodic undertones, Russian craft and Spanish flair take a harmonious voyage across prairie province as Mango and Gullen visualise "Manitoba" in sonic form. Windswept landscapes reveal abstract patterns across fields of corn, sunlit in glorious autumn technicolour. Whispering vocal phrases catch on the cool air, drifting in reverberating sound waves.

Above and beyond, UK vision finds a pulsating edge in Marsh. Rasping bass pulses in waves across a golden glow. A sonic path forged within a mountain of glacial calm. Simple motifs vie for attention against soft vocal touches, harmonies filter out across the distance in arpeggio driven bliss; the mountain flora ripples under light breeze.

Looking out over Brighton peer, Sinerider envisions "Manitoba" landscape. Sweeping textures create a world of majestic solitude – ethereal in nature, haunting by design. Disparate motifs rise and drop, barely heard as they tumble and fall against the cavernous reverb of a hard-edge mountainside, softened by the sonic washes that continue into eternity.

Reflecting, refracting, soaking up the waves "Manitoba" warms the soul.
