Ruggine [the piano journey] is a project to produce a road-movie about the journey of an old upright piano from Biarritz (France) to Rome (Italy). Every day a stopover in a little town along the way, every day a concert for the people of the place. The soundtrack of the movie will be composed during the journey, Oxyde, that is the film opening theme, is  the only track I wrote.

Pearl of dream

This piano solo was originally created for someone I love dearly, whom, after going through some difficulties, found himself surrounded by people, yet was very alone and lonely.  I wanted to create something for him, so that he could know that he was never alone, and convey the sadness that this loneliness can entail, but also, to try and portray 'hints of dancing' or hope, as someone aptly put it (e.g. comments by @oorlab, @mrkil1o1 and others - thank you for hearing this!). (and thank you everyone for your wonderful comments, they always mean much!) :)

There is a difference between being 'alone' and 'lonely'. Everyone experiences both to a degree at some points in their lives, some more than others. Being 'alone' does not always mean that one feels 'lonely', and one can take 'time out' or feel at peace within themselves. Likewise, feeling 'lonely', does not always mean that a person is 'alone' and they may be surrounded by people, yet can still feel a sense of deep loneliness.

Originally titled: 'Thinking of You', I wanted to broaden what this song tried to reveal through emotion, for anyone who experiences such, with an understanding of, and empathy for, what it can feel like to be both alone and lonely in this world. Sadness can dominate, hope can be diminished, but throughout such times, there may be glimpses of hope and changes for the better in a journey towards feelings of greater inner peace and acceptance. 

Sometimes all it takes, is for one person to show that they care, and to be there, in any way that they can, when it matters the most.

This is what this relatively simple song hoped to present, almost raw emotion, and not 'perfection' in technical proficiency, and it particularly reflects in a way, an old adage I love (or words to this effect):

.... 'You may not 'be' the world, but you may mean the world to someone' :-)

No matter how we may feel at times in life, if ever we feel lonely, and perhaps without hope, we need to know that we are never truly alone, and whilst sad in nature, I hope that the small 'dances of hope' shine through, and for those who listen, to know that someone is thinking of you x

This song was originally recorded in LogicPro 9, without any significant mixing and no mastering, given that I'm still learning.

Now, thanks to John Styles, this new version has a clearer, crisper sound, with so much more warmth and depth to it. John Styles is a wonderful and professional producer in the truest sense of the word.

Thank you so much for your continued support and encouragement! I truly appreciate it :-)

 I love the SC community, because it is a 'community', with the many styles of music and the inspirations and encouragement I find here for all! 

After discovering SC and hearing so much talent - I wanted to join in, but so much to learn!   I was a classically trained pianist when a youngster (now a tad rusty), who has restarted a musical journey, originally in learning the field of electronic music, and exploring piano improvisations and compositions.  However, most of my latest works have been piano-based, and am hoping to once again, learn some more electronic and even combine the two; piano and electronic ... But then again, I keep returning to the piano! hehe :)

- still exploring and not feeling bound by any rules!

A Mini Biography: Music has been a part of my life since a young child (my whole family is musical, though of different styles, with my step-father's fantastic rock-band and analog synths, bass and acoustic guitar, my mother's gorgeous Irish folk-band, autoharp and dulcimer, my brother's beautiful self-taught guitar, and my Dad's famous banjo playing) :)   

At a young age of about 5, I attempted composing my own piano works whilst begging my mother for piano lessons; and after about a year, my wish became reality and I trained for the AMEB (Australian Musical Examination Board) exams. I eventually started performing live, with amateur tours around the country area for a singing group and for theatre groups (though that was a long time ago now!). 

But eventually, I headed down a different path in academia, in getting my Bachelors degree, Masters degree and a PhD.

Now I have a chance to find this dream again, slowly but surely, as long as its fun. I also find it very therapeutic, as music can often express so much more than words can. It is a journey where time seems to have no meaning. This is a 'musical diary' of sorts, as I struggle through a difficult time in life health-wise, ... my escape .... music :-)

So, I would love it if you would follow me on this 'journey' because any advice or feedback would be greatly appreciated :)

Of course, I am also here as a Fan, and would love to find more people to listen to! There are so many wonderful, talented, and often undiscovered musicians up here, and I cannot get enough of your music! I have very eclectic tastes in music. 

My apologies too if there is ever a delay in my replies, as I can't always be here, but will try to get back to you and comments, I appreciate them so much. Hoping to find all my friends, and new ones too! ;-)
