I still remember going to the cinema as a kid and watching Kung fu Panda for the first time, laughing so much and enjoying myself. At the time of course I only paid attention to the action and funny moments, like any kid would; but as time passed, I came to appreciate more and more those few moments in which Oogway appears on screen, and it’s funny cause now those are the ones that have stuck with me the most.

I’ve always held the “Today is a gift” quote close to my heart. It’s so simple, but so insightful. You always read “Carpe Diem” and whatnot, but listening to this as a kid really shaped how I see myself in this world. It’s easy to say “live in the moment”, but it’s actually very hard to put into practice. The routine, the mundanity of it all, the issues that we have in our life, they all make it difficult to really enjoy our time here. That’s why I love the phrase “Today is a gift”-

And I believe a lot of people here feel just like this. This movie is one of those shared pieces that have marked a whole generation. A shared experience that we all lived and marked us in similar ways. That’s why I love this movie so much. It’s part of our childhood, it taught us what’s really important, and it pulls us a little bit closer together.
