Season finale of NESCAFÉ Basement is a celebration of the talent, effort and the love for music of the youth of Pakistan. We present to you Nescafé Basement's largest ever ensemble of 21 young talented musicians honoring one of the most inspiring and accomplished guitarists of Pakistan.
December 1990, a young boy of 14 picked up the, never to put it back. With true passion, he decided to dedicate his life to master the art of playing the guitar. And since then he's never looked back.
Today, he's arguably the best guitarist not only in Pakistan, but across South Asia. Acknowledged and awarded by a scholarship from Berklee College of Music, USA on his outstanding musical achievement in 1996, he's the only artist from Pakistan to be signed up by global record labels (US and Finland) for an instrumental album release "An Abstract Point of View" in 2002.
But his most important achievement is the fact that he has inspired thousands of people to pick the guitar up and learn the craft in a vocalist dominated world.
Respected by one and all throughout the music fraternity, today we celebrate his two and a half decades of love, effort and dedication towards keeping music alive in Pakistan. Today we celebrate Faraz Anwar.

Shah Hussain (1538–1591) was a Punjabi Sufi poet who is regarded as a Sufi saint. He was the son of Sheikh Usman, and belonged to the Dhudhi clan of Rajputs. Born in Lahore, Punjab, he is considered to be a pioneer of the Kafi form of Punjabi poetry. 
Shah Hussain is also often known as Shah Hussain Faqir - Faqir meaning Dervish ( mendicant ) and Shah means King. So due to his extremely humble Sufi personality, people called him The Dervish King, a person who was a King and a Dervish at the same time.

Shah Hussain's love for a Brahmin boy called "Madho" or "Madho Lal" is famous, and they are often referred to as a single person with the composite name of "Madho Lal Hussain". Madho's tomb lies next to Hussain's in the shrine.

His tomb and shrine is located at the Baghbanpura precincts, adjacent to the Shalimar Gardens Lahore, Pakistan. His Urs (annual death anniversary) is celebrated at his shrine every year during the "Mela Chiraghan" ("Festival of Lights")
This ‘kafi', works on a dual level, the physical and the spiritual. In this beautifully written poem, the comparison is ostensibly between two lovers but at a spiritual level, it is the desire of a mortal to seek a lasting relationship with God.  
Shah Hussain talks of the need for a ‘wakeel’ – a mediator, someone who understands and helps. The reference is to the Prophet and seeking his help in finding true salvation. The concluding lyrics refer to Shah Hussain as a ‘fakir’ or mendicant who laments the transitory nature of life on earth and the ultimate reconciliation of man with his destiny. 
In treating this deeply spiritual message, MHB has approached the melody like a soft and lilting ballad that tugs at the heartstrings, makes us reflect on life and in doing so finding that moment that soothes the soul.

Is a pop rock band from Lahore, Punjab, Pakistan. The band originally consisted of song writer, vocalist and lead guitarist, Goher Mumtaz and vocalist, Atif Aslam [who stole the songs later and made up his own album turning his back at the group] later joined by bass guitarist Omer Nadeem. Founded in 2002, they first became popular playing in Lahore's underground music scene with the release of their song "Aadat", which was a massive hit in Pakistan topping all local music charts.

The band initially achieved critical and commercial success with the release of their music video "Aadat", directed by Umer Anwar, in 2003. After the success of the single, lead vocalist, Atif Aslam due to musical differences with lead guitarist Goher Mumtaz, parted ways with the band to pursue a career as a solo artist. After that Omer Nadeem also left the band and formes his own band "Sifaar". This led Mumtaz recruit musicians Farhan Saeed on vocals and Aamir Sheraz on bass guitar.The band's new lineup followed with the release of their debut studio album, Aadat, in 2004. The album was declared as the best selling album of 2004 on Geo TV by the record label Sadaf Stereo. Soon afterwards, the band recorded and released their second studio album Boondh in 2007, which topped several music charts in South Asia. The success of both the albums has led the band to achieve several awards, most notably winning the MTV Asia Award for Favorite Artist India in 2006. In 2011, Farhan Saeed also left the band to pursue a solo career with Goher Mumtaz taking over as the lead vocalist of the band. Jal came out with their third studio album 'Pyaas' which was released to the fans delight on 11 March 2013 in both Pakistan and India.

Jal are one of the most commercially successful and influential rock music groups of all time in Pakistan. Also, the band is well known for being one of the few contemporary Pakistani music bands to have fused Urdu lyrics with modern pop music.

Mekaal Hasan Band, sometimes shortened to MHB, is a sufi rock band formed in Lahore, Punjab, Pakistan in 1999 by composer-songwriter, guitarist Mekaal Hasan.
The band members have roots in different genres, including jazz, classical music, soul music, and sufi rock, the combination of each member has created a sound which has earned them fans from a variety of quarters. Hasan is the lead songwriter and has been noted for having a special style mixing classical music with metal techniques. The band is also famous for their epic live performances having won the most number of awards for Best Live Act.
