Native New Yorker fatik has been involved in the rich musical history of New York City for over 5+years doing A+R & handling the buying (new music) for Downtown 304 Records. This year he opened up the 1st brick & mortar shop in NYC that offers New Vinyl / Used Vinyl / Manufacture / Distribution called Second Hand Records in Bushwick NY. On the show Second Hand Love, he showcases the varying degrees of psychedelic soul music thru various genres ranging from Fusion, Disco, Funk, Soul, Rare Grooves, Jazz, Boogie, Afro, & Rock. Most of the selections can be found via his shop.

Dancing For Mental Health (still not a charity party) turns 4 and we have a very special guest in Andi Hanley. In a previous life he was a resident at Body & Soul in New York, alongside Danny Krivit, Francois K and Joe Claussell, but his musical orientation has changed and he now plays very different music from back in those days, regularly guesting at Cocktail d'Amore. He has been playing spectacular New Wave and Industrial sets recently and it will be a great fit for the intimate dance floor of Sameheads. This is gonna be a bit special, so don't miss it.

Andi Hanley live dj excerpt- 4th Birthday of Dancing For Mental Health @ Sameheads

Detroit house and hiphop don DJ Dez aka Andrés was destined for a life in music. The son of Humberto ‘Nengue’ Hernandez, an original player on Detroit’s jazz scene who sang and played percussion with the likes of Mongo Santamaria, Santana and Cachao López, got his first drum set aged three, and was raised on the Motor City’s rich musical history. Partly brought up in California, Andrés cut his teeth DJ-ing on the Cali underage party scene, before moving back to the 313 with his family. Already a certified crate digger and vinyl archivist, he started working at the legendary Buy-Rite Records store, the very same place that Kenny Dixon Jr. received his paycheck from.

After spending some time at Amp Fiddler’s home studio, Dez met J Dilla, who recruited him to DJ for his hiphop crew, Slum Village. Parallel to revolutionising the US rap landscape with the new-found electrified smoothness of S Villa, Andrés started to explore his hometown’s house legacy from the late 90's onwards. He hooked up with his former recordstore buddy to release a string of freewheeling house-not-house 12-inches on KDJ, leading up to a highly prolific relationship with Mahogani Music. After three acclaimed full-length albums for Mahogani, which really put him on the map as one of the most versatile figures on the Detroit dance music circuit, in 2012 he launched his own imprint La Vida with the future classic "New for U" 12”.

Next up is one of our favourite technical djs, Chicago's very own Damon Lamar. He has titled his mix appropriately as Harvey Blues. Expect lots of soul, funk, disco & plenty of his synonymous deeper cuts. 

Damon has been producing & djing since the early 90’s, with his first two records released on the well known imprint Relief as Baby Pop. 

He has also released on labels such as Defiant, End to End, Metroplex and more recently on Perpetual Rhythms, Shubaka, Yore Records and Styrax. He also runs the deeply rooted, prolific label with Specter named Tetrode Music, a label you all should be familiar with...
