Originating in the southern tip of Ontario, Mellodraw come from an area surrounded by fields, farmland, and open space.

Founding member Jacob McLean (guitarist, singer, songwriter) was inspired to fill that space with a sound that would resonate with those in the local music community and alternative listeners around the world. Mellodraw creates ethereal and dynamic music by combining shoegaze, dream pop, and post-punk elements, as well as many other diverse influences into a sound of their own.

The band began as a solo project inspired predominantly by bands from the 80s and 90s such as The Cure & Slowdive. To break into the Windsor music scene a live band was formed, bringing in drummer Jeremie Brousseau and guitarist Grady Caplin to collaborate.

Mellodraw released their debut album Eternal Mirror in 2017, recorded in Ottawa and produced by Cory Bergeron of Locket (with drums by Joey Demers of Heavy Hearts). Since then, the group has garnered a local following with their unique, infectious songs and high-energy live performances. The band's follow-up album the Sunny Days - EP was released in 2018, and the group spent most of 2019 playing shows across Southern Ontario alongside acts such as Glitterer & Suburban Living.

Mellodraw is constantly working to perfect their sound and recently went back into the studio to record their follow-up EP “Southwest Melancholy”. This marks the band's second project to be produced by Cory Bergeron, released on March 19, 2021.

Sharing unsigned & small label indie gems, mostly - especially post-punk and new wave.

Musically speaking, it feels as if me and Steve Lamacq were separated at birth. To me anyway, not sure if he feels the same. What we do share is a passion for discovering new music - though since his semi-retirement Emily Pilbeam has taken that mantle I think.

Punk, post-punk, new wave, garage, alternative rock, dream pop, electronica, reggae, psychedilia, folk, surf, blues and classic soul: if it has an indie vibe or beautiful vocals I'm there for it.
