His tracks are played and supported by Hernan Cattaneo, Moonbeam, Deepfunk and Applescal to name a few. He has also performed in numerous local and renowned venues such as Société des Arts Technologiques (S.A.T.), Club Soda, Salon Daomé, Newspeak, Théâtre Corona, Igloofest, Piknic Electronik Montreal, and Mutek Montreal.


Considered as one of Canada’s most accomplished electronic producers, Van Did’s appreciation for sound design, electro‐acoustics, & new techniques for signal processing is evident as he weaves texture & dimension into every aspect of his creations. With consistent releases on prestigious labels around the world, including Manual Music, Herzblut, & Hernan Cattaneo’s Sudbeat, he decided to start his own label in 2011 called Grrreat Recordings. Besides founding 8day Collective and his own label, he mixes melodic bits and pieces into a soothing Van Did signature – a loopy landscape of groovy beats, little details and driving energy.

3 QUESTIONS to SOLVANE:

Q: Talking about your mix: how did you meet the bass with your selection? 

A: I was playing in bands my whole youth and was not at all into electronic music in my teenager years. In my early twenties I started with Daft Punk and slipped pretty fast into Electro, as this was way closer to where I was coming from: Rock and Punk-Rock. I decided to make a very honest podcast. Not with Ableton Live but recording it like I did it 10 years ago. I was checking my dusty vinyl collection and my old MP3s and made the DJ-mix without a setlist. Recorded it with a first take and didn't do any reworks. I've selected a lot of big classics from my past but played them in a way more comfortable bpm than 10 years ago. It felt good to me and I hope you guys like it just like I do. 

Q: You´ve been to Japan for a tour a few days ago. Tell us about! 

A: What a crazy country. It's even way more crazy than I expected. I've already played in a lot of Asian countries like Malaysia or Thailand but Japan was completely new to me. I've had the honour to play in 5 different cities 5 nights in a row and it was very intense. Very few sleep but lots of traveling and alcohol. I was really happy to share most of the days with lovely acts like Bebetta or Seth Schwarz! You can find a tour-video on my facebook page end of November. 

Q: You recently released on Stil vor Talent. Which further projects are coming up next? 

A: I was on the road a lot the last weeks so I am pretty happy to finally find some time to work on a follow-up release for Stil Vor Talent with my buddy Prismode. We've already finished a bunch of tracks and I hope Oli will like them as much as we do. So, there will be a new EP pretty soon.

3 QUESTIONS to PHILIPP KEMPNICH:

Q: Talking about your mix: how did these tracks change your life and have an impact on your later doings?

A: I think the tracks are showing really good why I’m doing a certain kind of electronic music today. When I  started producing my own tracks in 2010 I was really into Progressive House (Deadmau5, Pryda, …). It’s funny that this genre-name disappeared some years from the scene cause it was somehow connected to EDM. Later on I was more focussed on groovy deep and Tech House. Now you find all of these elements in my tracks. A mixture between Progressive and dreamy Techno but always groovy.

Q: When talking about Einmusika Recordings most of the people only see Einmusik behind. But one of the most important guys behind is you. Tell us about your job.

A: When I first started working at Einmusika they we’re looking for someone who can help out two times a week to do some basic webdesign and photoshop. But I noticed really fast that there are many more things to do. So I grew with my tasks and learned a lot about how the music industry works. Now Einmusika has become my main job and I’m doing a big part of the daily business there. I’m really grateful to work with such a creative team. 

Q: Which Kempnich projects are coming soon?

A: I recently released an EP on EIN2 together with Allies For Everyone from New York and I’m working on a new Einmusika EP which is coming out in the beginning of next year. I changed a lot in my studio so you will definitely here a big difference to my previous ones. Furthermore I worked out my live-set because I like to perform it soon at some selected venues.

BIO: 
Letting go of all the rules and having the music in charge. With that idea Quirijn Verhoog started his new music project called Precursor. After 13 years of playing, he traded his guitar for a synthesizer. Inspired by the likes of @moderat-official, @kiasmos and @jonhopkins, electronic music became his new domain.

In his first two releases, the debut album “Wanderlust” and EP “Desire” on @basserk records, he blends together techno and electronica, resulting in a dynamic mixture of soundscapes. His releases drew attention from @earmilk and the “Desire” live show awarded him a second place at the Rob Acda Awards. 

Lately, Quirijn has been reinventing Precursor and positioned himself more into the Techno terrain. With his single “Kylmä” on @aftertech-records and his successful EP “Antagonist” on @us-them-records, he shows that the dancefloor is familiar terrain for the young Dutch producer. Antagonist has received enormous support from platforms such as @when-we-dip, @dancefloorromancer and @8day-montreal.
 
In addition to producing and performing, Quirijn is now a proud and active member of the @melodicdeep crew and is throwing the first Melodic Deep Invites party during Amsterdam Dance Event 2018.
