'Belgium's Greg Naïro is making a name for himself with deep, thoughtful productions. Versatile and elusive, he doesn't restrict himself to one musical universe. For his second outing on Dawn till Dusk, the producer showcases his pedigree through four elegant deep house originals that demand repeated plays. 

The summery deep vibe of 'Ledonia' is intoxicating. A warm two-finger bassline runs across snappy drums awhile lush synths and leads dance with a repeating vocal refrain that feels cheerful. This is refined yet compelling dance music. 

On 'Morlina' the class levels are turned up to 11. Sparkling keys and a sensual synth accentuate a super deep rhythm that doubles as a brass instrument. All the elements combine for a mature dance experience which reminds of smokey jazz clubs and illegal speakeasies. 

The vocal delivery on 'Panaray' is exquisite, an escape to a deep house holiday we all deserve. With grooving bongos and shuffling hats, this feels exotic, but the elongated bassline ground the track to its true nature: High-quality dancefloor music. 

The drums and percussion are stripped away on the Ambient mix of 'Panaray', letting the rest of the elements do what it does best: creating tranquil states of mind in highly uncertain times.'

As UK based Independent Electronic Dance label Selador Recordings approach their 9th anniversary, neatly coinciding with their 150th release, label bosses Dave Seaman & Steve Parry celebrate by unveiling an exciting new collaborative project under the alias, Nunchi Coup.

“We wanted to try to capture our 30+ year journey through Acid House Culture with some new work that reflected our history but still had it’s finger firmly on the pulse of the here and now” explains Dave “Steve and I are both Acid House Lifers but continue to be just as excited by new music as we were back in those early halcyon days. Running the label together has only served to reinforce that.”

“The vibe is a little more raw than what we’d usually do” Steve continues, “We were aiming for Nunchi Coup to have a more classic House and Techno sound. A nod to our heritage but still in a contemporary setting. After three decades in the business we’re even more aware of the circular nature of things.”

The two tracks on offer, whilst quite different in style, definitely have a unifying bond in that they both sound like they could have been made any time in the last 30 years. The astutely named, sample-laced ’Slaves To The Algo-Rhythm’ draws on the classic combination of emotional, soaring, orchestral strings set atop slamming House beats. Goosebumps-a-go-go! Whilst it’s bed partner, the visceral jackhammer that is ‘Coping Mechanism’ packs a punch like Tyson Fury with it’s Rave stabs and strong Warehouse party DNA. In Yer Face!

And the name, Nunchi Coup? What’s that all about then?

Nunchi is the Korean word for the ability to gauge how people are thinking and feeling in order to create connection, trust and harmony. Like a sixth sense, a kind of emotional intelligence and awareness of your surroundings.

“The concept spoke to us as DJs, that subtle art of reading the room and acting appropriately has been the mainstay of our musical philosophy since forever. The Koreans believe Nunchi is the secret to happiness and we can’t argue with that”.

'Yourself' is a timeless piece, settled over hypes and styles and it will hardly leave you indifferent. The voice of Butterjack offers the sensual touch, perfectly merged with the rhythm by AFFKT. We are also honored to have Petar Dundov on remix duties, who presents a mind-blowing re-interpretation of the track. 'Figurs' is an explosion of emotions and colors, a beautiful weapon full of organic instruments and nuances. Subtract boss Anton Tumas debut on the label with his full release, ‘Secret’ supported by a stand out remix from Luca Bacchetti. 

DJ, promoter and label owner, Tumas, is the epitome of laser focus. Cali-based, he’s grown his brand, Subtract from the ground up, and made a huge name for himself in the local scene. Signed to Balance Music via Hernan’s incredible 2017 mix compilation, Anton is a talent artist finding his stride. 

‘Secret’ is subtlety personified. Deep dubby kicks and thick lofi atmosphere wrap you in a cloak of melancholy, organic plucks and warm pads envelop and familiar feels abound. Teaming up with Treavor Moontribe next, ‘Razor Road’ begins in ambience. Building tension menacingly, the arrival of the kick ushers in a dark energy that is impossible to resist. Deep, powerful and utterly beguiling. Finally, Endless label owner, Luca Bacchetti adds his unique perspective to ‘Secret’ respecting the originals vibe but adding nuanced bass and percussive touches.

Steve Parry is unquestionably at the top of the UK scene, regularly playing along side heavy weights such as John Digweed, Sasha, Dave Seamen, Nick Warren, Hernan Cattaneo and Guy J, he is the DJ’s choice of DJ.

Widely respected across the industry, his acclaimed 3 year residency at the iconic Cream in Liverpool, seen him rise to the top, regularly being booked to headline around the world, playing in clubs such as Ministry of Sound and the legendary Space Ibiza.

His ties to his home city of Liverpool are strong, where he managed the world famous 3Beat Records, and as a promoter, Steve had much success, firstly with his legendary ‘Alderaan’ nights which ran from ’97 – 2001 in a room above the infamous Lemon Lounge and helped to shape the very scene Liverpool has become known for to this day.

Now in between touring the world, Steve and long term friend and business partner Dave Seamen head up the Selador label, with many chart toppers under their belt already and many more to come.
