Skankandbass is dedicated towards the official promotion of record labels and artists in the world of drum & bass music. Since inception in 2009, Skankandbass has unearthed some of the freshest talents in the scene and has opened many doors for unsigned artists. Since the launch of Skankandbass Introducing in 2015 we’ve been lucky enough to promote some of the best breakthrough talent of the last few years, including the likes of Particle, Klinical, Waeys, The Caracal Project, Visages, Gyrofield, Data 3, Grey Code and Dilemma among many others.  To mark our landmark 100th release we present SKANKANDBASS 100, an ambitious remix EP featuring reworks of some of our favourite label tunes from standout alumni.

SNB101 comes from North London based up-and-coming talent OB.  With an excellent recent track record including features on Monk Audio, Precinct, Sub:stance and SINE, OB has quickly established himself as an aficionado of the deeper side of drum & bass.  He makes his debut on Skankandbass Introducing with ‘Broken Pieces / Selfish’, featuring Kin:etic on the A-Side and vocals from Emerson on the flip.

This trance music piece encapsulates the theme of migration and human displacement driven by climate change, wars, poverty, and the current global economic downturn. The video features an animated sequence of people walking sequentially, attempting to cross a border checkpoint. They are risking it all in search of a safe haven that can provide them with sustenance and a better life in these times of worldwide climate turmoil and economic collapse.

2015 saw Stephan Bodzin release his second full length, “Powers of Ten”, as well as a new single on DJ Tennis’ and Tale of Us’ taste making label Life and Death. The album is another magical piece of work that focuses on melody and rhythm, on fat bass and vivid sound design and is a truly captivating journey through the mind, music, body and soul of one of dance music’s truly modern greats. After its release, a great team of modern music makers was enlisted to remix tracks from it: Maceo Plex & Shall Ochin, Fur Coat, Extrawelt, long time musical sparring partner Marc Romboy, Pan-Pot, Max Cooper, Agents of Time, Dominik Eulberg and many more all contributed to what is an essential collection. With a remix of ‘Sleepless’, a Pan-Pot track from their latest album, Stephan Bodzin closed the latest chapter of 2015 in what has been an exhilarating musical journey in his capable and creative hands.

Barnt and Stephan Bodzin, two artists whose stand-out performances at recent Afterlife events have made them firm favourites with the crowds, are tapped for the remixes of Tale Of Us & Vaal's latest single 'Monument' (AL006). They both take on the title track, Barnt opting for a rolling, percussive direction and Bodzin more ethereal and transportive. For the digital-only third contribution, Adriatique (the Swiss duo of Adrian Schweizer and Adrian Shala) give the drums some extra punch and cloak the vocal in spacey reverb.
