This track was produced for the Melodics April 2024 Beatmaker Bootcamp.

My family is Sri Lankan. One of my favorite places in the world is Dambulla Temple in Sri Lanka. The temple is full of caves containing massive gold statues of the Buddha, with ancient skeletons of the original people who lived there before Buddhism's arrival to the country. I created a song that tried to capture the ethereal, frenetic energy lingering within a silent, echoing cave - the memories of the dances of ancient golden bones.

My biggest inspirations were both video games - Final Fantasy 6's World of Ruin theme for chords that reverberated through a haunting, empty space, and Sly Cooper on the Playstation 2 for the glockenspiel evoking a sense of motion in the night.

The album art is my modernized rendition of another nearby Sri Lankan landmark - the Lion Rock, Sigiriya, an ancient, crumbling palace atop a massive rock in the jungle that awakes millennia later and finds itself in a world that has left it behind.

Imagine you wake up, but everything around you is new and strange, unfamiliar beyond just someone else's bedroom. You are in a different reality. How do you respond?

This is very much a parallel imagining of me stepping into the unknown of creating my own beats. I also deliberately tried to make choices that I would not normally make so just pushing myself a bit further out of my comfort zone.

I can't pinpoint what inspired this, but I always wanted to start off with something slow that had a nice chord progression, and I think I've managed that. I'm sure it could be greatly improved upon, but I'm happy with how it is as my first track.

Entry song for the Melodics Boot Camp Project and my first completed track.

Was quite intimidating in the beginning and my first attempt was not sounding so good, which left me considering not continuing with the bootcamp... So I slept on it, practiced a few melodic lessons, deleted the first attempt and started take 2.

Was looking for a grungish mood yet also something more uplifting. I didn't have specific inspiration for the song except just to explore the relationship of some sounds...  and an expression session to release some tension.

Been a fun journey and ended up surprising myself, even though it's not perfect. In the end I am grateful I gave myself a take 2 to give it another shot.

I created this project while being a part of Melodic's Bootcamp 2024. It's one of my first recordings, ever. It's named "Gratitude" because of where I'm at with my own life right now.

My third track, not my proudest work honestly. I tried to lean towards Jazzhop, still got a lot to learn about this genre.

Started with piano, then drums, than upright bass, than shaker, than trumpet.

To make things more interesting, I decided to ask Chat GPT for some chord progressions and make my song around it.

It was done using only Logic Pro 8 and the original Korg Legacy Collection on my old iMac G5!

Not sure what would best describe this track... 
But soundtracks-like is probably how I would put it!
And it kinda has some 80s vibe too with the nice synth pads and the synthesised brass section!
