Podcast section continues to grow, and today we have the pleasure of sharing a beautiful set that an admired colleague recorded for us, who has been helping us with the diffusion of our music from his premieres section on SXDNS. Thanks @celestinobr and enjoy his mixtape!

Brazilian based in Germany, Celestino defines himself as "just a dinosaur playing music for love since 1992". As a producer, he has released on acclaimed labels such as Emerald & Doreen, Nein, NUFF MUSIC, Quixotical, Maleante, and Espacio Cielo, just to name a few. He has worked as the curator of the rising platform Sexy Dinosaur From Outer Space (SXDNS) @sxdns since 2018.

Es un honor recibir esta semana a @luiscosta_deejaylui (DJ Lui), un gran amigo y uno de los referentes de la música electrónica española, con un set cargado de sensibilidad, propuesto para escucharse en casa mientras esperamos esperanzados el poder volver a bailar pronto juntos en algún club.

Luis nos prepara una selección de canciones que lo han acompañado durante varias etapas de su carrera, las cuales nos hacen transicionar diversas emociones con un trasfondo esperanzador. Un viaje rítmico y envolvente de una hora por tracks downtempo, desde ambient, instrumental, electro y wave.

Dj y periodista, Luis Costa es residente de la sala Lolita de Razzmatazz Clubs desde el pasado 2009, donde también trabaja como responsable de prensa. Desde 2013 organiza la fiesta @danceteriabcn y más recientemente Destination Moon, junto a Fledermaus, en la sala Freedonia, donde también programa artistas y es DJ residente. El pasado 2019 publicó su edit de "Autogas" de la pionera banda española de synth wave y proto techno TodoTodo, en un 12” en Frigio Records. Es autor de ¡Bacalao! Historia Oral de la Música de Baile en Valencia 1980 – 1995 (Contra, 2016) y Balearic. Historia Oral de la Cultura de Club en Ibiza (Contra, 2020). Es colaborador habitual de Cultura.s de La Vanguardia, Clubbing in Spain, Mondo Sonoro, Ocimag o Beatburguer.

This week we are honoured to welcome Luis Costa (DJ Lui), a great friend and one of the leading figures in Spanish electronic music, with a set full of sentimentality, proposed to be listened to at home while we wait hopefully to dance together again soon in a club.

Luis prepares for us a selection of songs that have accompanied him during various stages of his career, which make us transition through various emotions with a hopeful undertone. A rhythmic and enveloping one-hour journey through downtempo tracks, from ambient, instrumental, electro and wave.

Dj and journalist, Luis Costa has been a resident of the Lolita room at Razzmatazz Clubs since 2009, where he also works as press officer. Since 2013 he has organised the Dancetería party and more recently Destination Moon, together with Fledermaus, at Freedonia, where he also programmes artists and is resident DJ. Last 2019 he released his edit of "Autogas" by the pioneering Spanish synth wave and proto techno band TodoTodo, on a 12" on Frigio Records. He is the author of Bacalao! Historia Oral de la Música de Baile en Valencia 1980 - 1995 (Contra, 2016) and Balearic. Historia Oral de la Cultura de Club en Ibiza (Contra, 2020). It seems that the world is falling apart, but the music continues to shine, and more with artists like the one we bring in the new edition of Melómana Records. We are talking about neither more nor less than the English producer Dan Wainwright, an artist for whom music has always been everything, hence his compositions cross the borders of many genres, as if after the explosion of a cataclysm, it occurred to him collect the musical remains of other genres to reinvent them, searching in each sound for a meaning to a disturbing and dark present. The album that we present, House of the Sun, is a response to the existential emptiness experienced by a time of all or nothing, which allows one to dream while still being awake. Clear influences from artists such as The Beatles, Pink Floyd, Tangerine Dream, The Ozric Tentacles, house, balearic, funk, and anything creatively alive are perceived in the EP, he has managed to make the most intimate and everyday, something cosmic and profound. An example of this, which condenses Wainwright's sound universe is the track House of the Sun, which is accompanied by the great remix of producer A-Tweed. Also Wachuma, who introduces us to a new territory, which will make us detach ourselves from this harsh and harsh reality.

The result of this House of the Sun is a work whose creative process has been behind him for more than 26 years, and which is born from an impulse to condense into one piece his passion for music, life and the people he loves.

Originally founded in Spain and now based out of Berlin, Golden Soul Records, the brainchild of James Rod, Aleito and Azaria has been releasing synth-heavy, mind melters and brain busters that traverse the galaxies of Italo, nu disco, synth pop and new beat since 2015. The best remixes from the label have now been perfectly packaged onto this new 2021 EP.

 

Kicking things off, a slice of futuristic machine funk from James Rod who puts a cosmic twist on Javier Busto - Robot in Mars, before Aleito works up a arpeggiated whirlwind with From Beyond - Body Resonance.

 

On the B side Azaria lets loose a new beat monster remix of Tiempo de Maldad - Disco Gold with Jarle B  providing an Italo stomper of a rework for Aleito’s - Always Here to close out proceedings.
