Lithuanian @johnpatter lands on Melómana Records, announcing the summer season in a big way, with the Cuatro Lados EP, an album made up of cuts that take us into a world of lush, unhinged, frenetic and lysergic sounds, where nothing seems innocent.

The theme “Yallah”, opens up a progressive piece, which invites us to explore an ambiguous and mysterious world, in which liquid and bubbly environments with many dark ideas that eagerly seek to renew the language of techno from the dark side. “Distress The Sorrow”, arpeggiated techno, with a soft and captivating luminosity, where the linearity in the development of the discourse takes on special importance, thus communicating a strange feeling of eternal dawn. In “Obsidian”, Patter has managed to refine, refine and further his musical concept, drawn up based on forceful and aggressive percussions that are modulated with grotesque and psychedelic samplers, like dictations from abyssal depths, exploring a terrain that it seems that few are already inhabiting. Finally, The Awakening, this work is accentuated with a more raw percussion and a powerful bassline, which transports us as if we were at the gallop of a horse that advances feverishly in the depth of the night.

'Variation of Dark-Disko is Andreja Salpe's whimsical, yet completely logical sequel to “Egypt Disko” - his collaboration with Veselinov which recently dropped for Quixotical Records. Including a groovy, organic remix by Leonor and a more heavy, industrial remix by Aurum Miles, this dance floor oriented release is a welcome folder in any party lover’s collection.

MAN 2.0 heads to Sound Du Jour as he delivers his ‘Monsters’ EP for the label’s sophomore release, backed by remixes from Vyvyan and label boss La Mano.

With releases and remixes via Midnight People, Death Decay Magic and Nein Recordings, London-based DJ and producer MAN 2.0 continues to build a robust list of supporters as he emerges amongst the city’s ever-expending electronic landscape. Gaining plaudits from Rex The Dog, DJ Sundae and the late great Andrew Weatherall, 2022 looks set to be fruitful as he adds a new label to his catalogue with a debut appearance on La Mano’s newly-minted Sound Du Jour imprint. Delivering two fresh originals, his ‘Monsters’ EP also welcomes a pair of quality remixes provided by the mysterious Vyvyan and label boss La Mano himself. 

Title cut ‘Monsters’ welcomes a buzzing concoction of zipping stabs, charged synths and spiralling sirens above tough, breakbeat percussion, while Vyvyan’s interpretation ups the energy by introducing menacing basslines and murky low-ends across their ‘Monster Mix’. Nest, ‘Synapse’ journeys into spacey realms as off-kilter drums meet hypnotic electronics, before label head La Mano dives deep into a glistening electro ride through rich soundscapes with his remix to close the show.

B1980 is respected producer and musician Bert Libeert and is best known as the drummer of electro-rock band GOOSE. This project sees him focus on his love of EBM and techno with influences taken from new beat and Belgian legends like Front242. His aim is to bring the spontaneity of live music back to clubs, armed with just two synths and two drum machines. Says the artist, "music is not all about technique or knowledge, it’s about expressing your personality and style." He sure backs that up here.
Our choice here falls on 'Modeling Minds'which  slows things down to a predatory and heavyweight crawl, with spangled synth patterns and supersized hi hats all conveying an epic sense of battle to come.

Label boss Aimes returns to his home base with a double track ep of chugging acid-tinged left-field techno. Both tracks implore multi-dimensional existiliast lyrics combined with cosmic leaning production.  
 A1 is the title track of course, describing an out of this world existential experience. The track is bouncy, fun, and slightly odd, but certainly danceable. 
 On A2 (which is offered up only on vinyl), Aimes takes the original song and turns it into a club-ready slow-burning stomper with a full on repetitious acidic bassline fit for any sleazy techno set.  
 The remix on A3 comes courtesy of Sean Johnston aka Hardway Bros (member of A Love from Outer Space with Andrew Weatherall) who turns the original into a dark and brooding version with a punchy bassline and cosmic synths.  
 Aimes’ second original on the EP, We Are Eternal, is a massive slowed down acid burner that reiterates the eternalness of humanity. Incredibly psychedelic in nature, the pulsing bass and bubbling acid line is prime for a dark and sweaty rave.  
 B2 comes courtesy of Panorama Bar resident Massimiliano Pagliara who submits a cosmic, dubbed out flip of the original, taking the listener on an extended spatial journey. 
 On B3 Japanese producer Que Sakamoto and his production partner NT ramp up the bpms for a dark disco rendition of the original.
