War of the Monochrome is a song i made for Check X Mate, an upcoming chess puzzle game with visual novel elements by Sliced Kiwi Studios!

About the song:
I was asked to make a memorable battle theme for the chess puzzle sections of the game, so i wanted to do my best to make the song feel like it could fit a wide variety of situations and game difficulties, gradually building up from a relatively more bombastic intro to more melodical sections, but with plenty of intermissions inbetween, in my opinion, this would fit the more difficult chezz puzzles in the gameplay because you'd be listening to the song for longer if you are struggling
I went for some progressive time signature choices, and also went with some more key changes than usual because i felt like it could help with giving the song more of an unique identity
In terms of inspirations, i would say that Rei Kondoh's works were in my head a lot when i was in the planning phases of this song

I got started on this out of boredom, but I saw potential in it. 3 livestreams of me working on this song later, and it's complete, but it was not without some annoying issues I dealt with.

Because of the rules for the category (Module file that has to be under 24 kilobytes), I've had a very difficult time cramming it down into that. The final module size was 30kb, and without altering the song some it was not possible to compress it down further than 26.

This is where Pigu helped tremendously. At the cost of some parts being slightly changed, he got it under 24kb.
