Captain Blackbeard interview for The Metal Gods Meltdown by Seb Di Gatto is an electrifying conversation! We chat about their new album "Chasing Danger," release day, tour news, and even dive into fun questions like Robert's favorite albums, musicians, and his ideal 24-hour road trip companion.

CAPTAIN BLACK BEARD is back with their new AOR masterpiece “Chasing Danger”! The new album features a ten-song energetic joyride of melodic rock with that special Swedish touch. This is the perfect blend of sounds like their contemporaries/friends The Night Flight Orchestra and H.E.A.T. 

In late 2023 the band found themselves at a crossroad. Their lead singer Martin Holsner decided to quit the band to spend more time with his family. The Captain had been through a number of personnel changes over the years and the thought of just quitting certainly existed. However, it seemed fate would intervene. Singer Fredrik Vahlgren caught the attention of bass player/founding member Robert Majd. When hearing his voice, Robert knew that if Fredrik were to join the band, then they had to continue and they had a chance to top their earlier albums. Fredrik joined the guys who were 100% focused on making the best Captain Black Beard album to date. 

Like their Swedish countrymen The Night Flight Orchestra, Captain Black Beard grew up with the classic sound of bands such as Journey and Foreigner but found a way to take a renewed approach to it and own the AOR sound in such a bossy way that it draws the attention of a whole new generation of fans. 

The development of the band sound over the last years and several albums and singles made the tag “disco AOR” stick to them, as a way to describe the incredible catchy and all-round composition and sound they achieved. 

The ultimate expression of this “disco AOR” sound was, until now, the last Captain Black Beard album, “Neon Sunrise”, released in the Fall of 2022 via Mighty Music. Groovy drums, melodic guitars, lots of keyboards and melodic vocals to top it off and make your love for AOR – old or new – boil once again in your blood. 

But now, with a revamped lineup, with includes new vocalist Fredrik Vahldren, the four-piece are ready to go even further… Are you ready for a joyride of melodic rock with a special Swedish touch?
