Local rising star Nak has a knack (pun intended) for throwing together high energy electro, acid, garage and breaks in tasteful and unexpected ways. Test subject 1.25 @allurein of the beloved @neurocrankk collective, unearths a primordial dance between the hunter and it’s prey as they weave through an aberrant, glitching biosphere. A true narrative of survival where tension rises and falls as the hunt plays out through alien flora.

“I made the visual prompt my lock screen first and foremost, so that I’d be met with it every day. Any time I was listening to music it was right there; either to remind me to be listening for certain sounds I associated with the visual, or so that the visual would be so deeply engrained in my mind that I was always listening to music with a lens directly associated with the visual. 

I developed this sort of sci-fi story, of predator and prey that I felt came as a consequence of this relationship between the lushness of the visual; and the striking contrast of the sharp, grey, almost extra-terrestrial intrusions. Notwithstanding the embarrassment factor, it helped me create a narrative that I felt the interplay of songs could tell. 

I tried to imagine the strange sounds and animals that might arise, the ups and downs of my participation: haste, fear, exhilaration, and brief moments of tranquillity. As I said, it’s pretty embarrassing, but honestly it brought the visual to life and meant when looking for music, these were all the ways I wanted it to make me feel.

For me, the mix conveyed a story of survival in this glitched-out rainforest – a strange subsection prompting the discernment of what is artificial in an environment that was seemingly so close to a rainforest here on earth.”

shjva is a Ukrainian DJ and producer based in Warsaw, where she is also the creator of the Penumbrum label and party series. She also recently dropped an EP with the beloved Brutaż label.
This podcast is a recording of her set from the sweaty Unsound 2022 opening party in 89, beneath Hotel Forum, with shjva combining trance and house, cosmic psychedelia and dub, ambient and downtempo atmospheres.

There will be Blood By Johnny Greenwood , or Tar’s by Hildur Guðnadóttir who also did Chernobyl. 

Describe in detail your favorite place in the club?

The dance floor, there's no club without a dance floor and no party without a solid dancing crowd (not quantity, quality) its where all the magic happens!

What is your favorite party/collective where you reside and why?

Reef and Subglow, both parties organized by dear friends. Reef is a special space for bass music on the edges centered in the best club ,Berghain. It's great seeing that music have place there and work so well. 

Subglow is a new party that is already cultivated an amazing community around it, its incredible to see energy on the dance floor at those parties.

If you could transfer all your knowledge from what you do now into something completely different, what would it be and why?

A have a secret wish ( well not anymore lol) to be a booker at a club or a festival, building balanced diverse line ups is an exciting task. Probably not easy as well.

What would you like to see in the future for the dance community?

Quality over quantity

Recently relocated to Amsterdam, she started her electronic music path in Barcelona two years ago, quickly turning into one of the most promising upcoming DJs in the scene, playing at Sónar and Primavera Sound festival alongside having a residency in Human Club. She also curates Fauna & Flora, a multidisciplinary event that mixes electronic music with digital art, and hosts her own radio show Neskafe on Dublab radio.
