BSRMIX #131 - Fader Cap

"I recorded it at the end of this past summer, which coincided with the end of the festival season. I needed to recharge my physical+emotional batteries after a summer-long marathon of playing non stop in clubs and festivals all over France and doing my Berlin debuts.

 I think the mix is an accurate reflection of my mood in that moment. It’s a nostalgic combo of slow rhythms, soft vocals and transcendental vibes, which help de-clutter the mind and ease the soul. I would recommend giving it a listen on a sunny afternoon, going out on a walk in a park or while riding a bike near a body of water. "

We catch up with @6969bambi, resident DJ of Macadam Nantes, a host of Rinse France as well as curator for @tentacularlov, a show and mix series on Dia Radio. Bambi has prepared us a beautiful down-tempo mix, full of trip hop, jungle and other sexy slow rhythms.

Taking over Tapes #83 is Hybrid Man, the electronic music project of Naarm-based duo Julien Huynh and Will Holden. Formed in late 2018, the pair’s live set suspends time - drawing you in deep for a moment of keen introspection before erupting into euphoric electronica. 
Keenly, the imaginative world induced nods at dance music past and present, where it fuses ambient soundscapes with IDM, 90s trance, dubbed-out house, techno and beyond for an all-immersive and timeless experience. 

 At the forefront of Hybrid Man’s union is a mutual penchant for hardware-based production. This passion sees the duo side-by-side maneuvering their equipment with the precision of surgeons, championing left-field sonic artifacts, environmental recordings and manually-played improvisatory instrumentation. A patchwork of influences; Hybrid Man have trailblazed the contemporary downtempo meets techno movement in Naarm, peppering their sound to technical finesse with dub-style mixing and effects.

The trio that is Astral VIP was, in their own words, inscribed on the seat of a rusty bike left abandoned in a hof. Clearly a sign from the universe, it went on to become the name of a collective of three friends (Dugong, Big Leg & Nipuna) who’s musical idiosyncrasies aligned all over the genre map.

There will be Blood By Johnny Greenwood , or Tar’s by Hildur Guðnadóttir who also did Chernobyl. 

Describe in detail your favorite place in the club?

The dance floor, there's no club without a dance floor and no party without a solid dancing crowd (not quantity, quality) its where all the magic happens!

What is your favorite party/collective where you reside and why?

Reef and Subglow, both parties organized by dear friends. Reef is a special space for bass music on the edges centered in the best club ,Berghain. It's great seeing that music have place there and work so well. 

Subglow is a new party that is already cultivated an amazing community around it, its incredible to see energy on the dance floor at those parties.

If you could transfer all your knowledge from what you do now into something completely different, what would it be and why?

A have a secret wish ( well not anymore lol) to be a booker at a club or a festival, building balanced diverse line ups is an exciting task. Probably not easy as well.

What would you like to see in the future for the dance community?

Rapidly increasing in notoriety and popularity, these Naarm-based not-for-profit monthly doofs and exhibitions aim to maintain the queer foundations of rave through safe and inclusive spaces while fundraising for important causes such as the Zoe Belle Gender Collective.
