It’s springtime in the southern hemisphere and today we’re celebrating it with a mix from London-based DJ, Anna Rose (aka ANNX). 

We’ve been admiring Anna’s mixes for some time - her flawless mixing and the relentless collection of the best progressive & psytrance. We’re lucky enough to be able to share a recording of her set from this year’s Above Below Festival in Chiltern Hills in the UK. Anna played 7-9pm on The Beacon stage, and woweee it’s making us wish we were there to witness this set as the sun went down.

For the concept of this mix I wanted to put together a selection of tracks inspired by some of my favourite moments on the dance floor this year. Those times when the night stretches into early morning, and the energy is electric, yet the atmosphere is mystical and dark.

For the mix I tried to focus on the stripped back low-end driven sides of trance and progressive music, hopefully capturing the energy and atmosphere of those memorable sections of club nights.

As the mix unfolds, there's a progression in energy to play on being drawn deeper into those nights where you can feel that building sense of liveliness and anticipation.

@subsystem-transmissions and @sustain-release-nyc look incredible

Unfortunately Dublin’s party scene is fairly limited because of the laws around opening hours which are hopefully changing soon, but I really like what @the_solace_space are doing as a party and a collective 

+ 𝐚 𝐥𝐨𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐃𝐉 𝐲𝐨𝐮’𝐝 𝐥𝐢𝐤𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐛𝐢𝐠 𝐮𝐩?
Have to big up my @fuaimdub companions @sandrewsmusic, @steckybone and @feargaloconnell, all amazing djs and people

Wasn’t a club experience but it would have to be @draaimolen this year, it was something very special to witness and I was riding a high after it for weeks

+ 𝐝𝐞𝐬𝐜𝐫𝐢𝐛𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐚𝐥 𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐲?
Needs to have a crispy and punchy sound system, then some trippy minimal lighting, an energetic crowd with lots of space and probably somewhere in nature like a forest or a mountain range 

+ 𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐝𝐨 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐥𝐨𝐯𝐞 𝐦𝐨𝐬𝐭 𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐜𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐥𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐢𝐧?
How friendly everyone is, I didn’t realise this until someone mentioned it to me recently, but after doing a bit of travelling and thinking about it Dublin does have a special way about it when it comes to the people. There’s warmness and friendliness you experience on a night out that’s hard to find anywhere else

The vocals of Paranoid London's "Paris Dub 1" over Mr. G's "Let Down (Badly)" – they complement each other perfectly.

Gotta be Berlin, there’s just no place like it, although I’ve many places I still need to experience

One of the minds behind local rave crew Dog's Breakfast, Atticus aka EuDuBong offers up some uplifting, groove-laden, decompression-oriented house, tech and garage recorded live at 7am from one of the Dog's Breakfast raves back in October. Rapidly increasing in notoriety and popularity, these Naarm-based not-for-profit monthly doofs and exhibitions aim to maintain the queer foundations of rave through safe and inclusive spaces while fundraising for important causes such as the Zoe Belle Gender Collective. Whomp head-honcho ANNX joins us for the latest edition of the Fuaim series with a club-ready blend of psy-tinged rhythms and prog rollers. 

Anna has gone from strength to strength in recent years, appearing on lineups with the likes of Above Below festival, Gloria @ Macadam, and many many more. Her sound is refined beyond her years, showcasing sounds of stripped back progressive and psytrance proving her relentless skills as a digger.

Her talents as a promoter are no less. Co-running the Whomp party with Lora Mipsum, and more recently perspectives.ldn, she has become a staple for psychedelic music on London's club circuit.
