Back in 1994/95 made some 4 tracks with Phil Hirvela , and called the brief project 'Grandpas entourage'. Appearing in this track is myself on drums, Phil on bass and guitar, and Danny Spirovski on sax.

MELu is the raw sound of two Aussie-Finn-Sámi brothers, Lewi Hirvelä and Phil Hirvelä, joined by longtime friends Nicholas Johnson and Dianne Rodriguez, making noise that cuts through. Blending atmospheric tension with groove-driven rhythms, MELu crafts a collision of sonic textures, equal parts industrial, soul, and trip-hop.

Their sound echoes the likes of Massive Attack, Nine Inch Nails, Deftones, and The Roots, with a nod to Jamiroquai, Skunkhour, and ‘90s alt-funk layers.

Born from Nordic roots and raised under the southern sun, MELu is Brisbane’s answer to beautiful noise, moody, rhythmic, and unapologetically real.
