No introduction needed for this soul train classic by Kool and The Gang. I have been messing with it for some time now trying to make a modern DJ friendly version and thought it would be nice to share. Initially I made the sorter 'hip cut' for me to play and mashup crossing over from soul and hip hop to disco but then I realized I could not do without the magical ARP synth solo so thus the 'extended version'. It took a while to tame and make it work and now here it is. Enjoy this fine piece of music and Merry Xmas peepz !

Everyone loves this song; so to do something new with it I've stripped back some of the parts, beefed up the drums, brought up Marvin's doubletrack vocal by itself, drawn special attention to James Jamerson's bass, and  and other bits and pieces. Following the results of the 2016 US Presidential Election, who would have guessed, on the 45th anniversary of Marvin Gaye’s seminal 1971 album What’s Going On, that the title song would be more poignant than ever.

Simply nudging the tempo, refashioning the original bass line, adding some melodic pads and piano lines, Caldwell has created a simple update of this classic song, all in the key of C Sharp Minor.
