This song is another one that I recorded with a band I used to play with.  After I wrote it, my vision of how I wanted it to sound was so clear that I remember I drew out the dynamics for the band on a whiteboard, using strange symbols and shapes.  Here I'm singing lead and playing piano, organ, and violin.  Not all in conjunction!  I'll work on that skill. I wanted it to end in a cacophony of operatic female vocals, and I like how we executed that in this recording.

There was a path through the woods
don’t know where it went
but my bare feet started creeping
and I let myself be sent
down

I was claimed by the darkness 
as the branches closed in
I could feel them brush against me
their rough caress upon my skin
as I went down

I never knew what the future held
I felt possessed by some suspicious spell 
knew I should turn back but I never did
not it’s all gone, gone
and now I make my way down

The path curved to the west
and released me the sea
my hair whipped all around my face
and the wind carried me
down

The waves stung as I waded
ever farther from the shore
and my head spun with remembrance
of all that had come before
down
